Well the MQ's of TES are not generally that good.

But why did you even buy this if you'll only do the MQ?

Actually, Skyrim has unlimited gameplay. It can NEVER be finished, it's engine keeps creating new quests.

Eh once all youve got left is Radiant AI fetch quests, you better believe its beaten.

These will only entertain you for so long.

The nice part about these is they encourage you during you "real" gameplay to seek out new locations and people, and give a little bonus gold. Thats very nice. But seeing it as neverending content is ridiculous. They are WAY too repetitive to be etertaining in the long run. But they DO make the world feel more alive in the short run.

In short, good support mechanic to core gameplay. Neverending game magic panacea, no.

I'm at 24 hours at the moment. Just finished a 14 hour session, too tired and hungry. I have not started the main quest and haven't finished half the guilds. Barely even touched sidequests.. So... Yeah.

This has been a common occurance since Oblivion and my son is the same way. people think doing the MQ is finishing the game, so they can toss it aside to collect dust and go play Co ops and multiplayer shooters or whatever grabs their attention for another few days........lol

I have a total playtime of about 10 hours, and I still have cities I haven't even been to yet.

I've got a similar playtime, and only been to two, and one of those was an accident (I got arrested)

I've played for 11 hours so far and have only been to three of the major cities. There is so much to do!

Where did 500 come from?, the claim by Todd Howard is 300 hours, the MQ being about 20 hours if not rushed, even then you will not see all the quests because some quests are related to your character type and path you choose.

someone enlighten me. The main quest can be finished within 100 hours easy, why do people say there's 500 hours of gameplay? How many worthwhile side quests and places to explore are there that are actually worth it and how many cities/towns are there to discover that the main quest doesn't cover?

I'm confused guys

Everything!
Im level 24 and havent touched the main quest yet.
Ive completed the mages guild quest line but am in no other factions.
So much to do.

I don't know about 500 hours, that is REALLY a long time if you think about it (20.8 STRAIGHT DAYS), but I know I've logged in 16 hours and have hit Riverwood, Whiterun, and MAYBE 7 dungeons. I will probably log in about 150 hours just on one character and I know I want to do at least 2 or 3.

Um this is kinda insulting...What you mean which are the good quests? Most quests in Skyrim are fun and unique unless you count the radiant story which is not necessary crazy.Dark brotherhood, companions, winter college and thieves guild are also a thing as well as the blades quests ,the daedras quests, the side story quests, the bards college, temple quests and many others I don't feel like searching in my guide.

Oh PS:according to my map which was in my guide book which shows all locations,it will take A LOT to uncover the locations.I can't even give the number since I would die trying to count them

You can do the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Companions, and College of Winterhold as well as many other sidequests.

Well i have played now for about 30h and finished the main quests as lvl 16. Now's when the fun begins for me :P i'll start doing new characters (mage, warrior), explore everything in the game, do side quests, do something fun, etc etc. I only completed the main quests first cause i loved the story.

Firstly, who said "500"? The preview videos etc had a number bounced around that was 300

Secondly, you are aking me to define what you mean by "worthwhile" side quests

Thirdly, there's other questlines, in guilds, and then there's side quests

lastly, there's exploration

Side-quests and mods.

Please name a mod for Skyrim ;)

You can't count Mods (future mods, no less) in the claims the developer made on play hours. They are mutually exclsuive

This isn't World of Warcraft. Quests are probably not that repetitive.

I was talking about exploring the massive world/dungeons and killing/looting that kind of thing

OVER 300, stopped counting at about 270, primary locations on the map and about (didn't count but eyeballing the list size) 150 secondary locations

Oh so much so much you can complete the main quest and the sidequests are actually endless. This is a never ending game (in terms of questing).

I never tried a TES game before and heard so much hype about it, ign giving it 9.5 along with other game rating sites and by far the most players on steam so I decided to give it a try and see what it's about. It hasn't disappointed in it's massive amount of content but I'm just curious how long the game's side quests/ect can keep me entertained after the main quest.

I'll probably buy morrowind and oblivion next time it's on sale on steam, seems to be worth the bang for your buck.

I'm 20 hours in. I currently have around 30 something quests in my journal. I haven't even discovered all the major cities yet. Have you tried joining factions? Each faction has it's own quest line about as long if not longer than the main quest and I think there are around 7 you can join. Then you have dungeons I'm not sure how many there are but I'm sure it's above 100 and they are about 40 minutes to 80 minutes each. Then you've got random side quests you get from random people around the Skyrim and random encounters. Not to mention there are some quests that factions give you that are literally endless so there you go.

I'm more than 20 hours in and not even entered any Major Walled City besides Witherun.

Yea, it's my first tes game and I'm halfway done with the main quest already at level 19 with 17 hours of gameplay. please enlighten me

Well there's a couple ways to approach the main quest.

1) do step 1 of main quest, then step 2, then step 3, then....

or

2) do step 1 of main quest and every other quest you find in the area, do step 2 of main quest and every other quest you find in the area, and in the areas those other quests send you, do step 3 of main quest and every other quest in the area, and every quest in the area of those other quests send you to, ....

Get it?

Rushing down the main quest line then going back to do minor quests when the main is almost done is not my preference.

Doing everything I come across on the way is much more fun to me.

I was talking about exploring the massive world and

actually exploration is quite amazing in this game since it's dynamic. For example I missed my shot against an elk pack who ran away .Some bandits were there and started shooting them . Also another example is when I went to a fort that was conquered by me for first imperial quest. A frost dragon attacked the fort .So there are many dynamic things happening here which makes exploration enjoyable.
