Wow! Now that's some pay.
Makes me wonder what Beth pays for voices.

And that's for a 15 year old no name. Imagine what they paid for Liam Neeson or Patrick Stewart. :whistling:

Not all voice actors/actress are that lucky. Sometimes there's even the controversy of them coming in to do a test to see if they fit the role. So they read out some spare lines, and get told to wait for the phone call. Turns out all the company needed was those lines, so they never call back because they got what they needed. It's also technically legal because they didn't really put them to work, just a quick sound test. Or some such, I think there's an actual term for that scam but I forget right now. I seen an article with I think Jennifer Hale explaining this, but I could be wrong. She goes on to point out how unless you get lucky to have a big name your not going to command a lot of pull. I take this to mean most voice actors/ess don't make all that much. So no it really isn't as glamorous as a place the article makes it out to be unless your so good or famous or your family knows someone to command that kind of respect. More of the exception than the rule.

Anthony Hopkins only had 16 minuets of screen time in Silence of the Lambs and he won an Oscar for it.

Meh. She doesn't sound half as good as the receptionist at our sister company in Norway. If only I had an excuse, I'd phone them ever day just to hear her voice.

The fact that she's probably a fat, ugly 65 year old matters not.

shouldntg unkown VAs get more attention? people like neeson are awesome, but too many times you look past their char and say "hey, its qui gon jinn!" if you never heard of the actor before, doesn't it make the char more believable?

If it's actually a talented voice actor in a well written role and not just a big name hired to sound like a big name, you won't necessarily recognize them. Too bad they're usually hired to sound like themselves, not to make the character believable.

Like Patrick Stewart. Did he really add anything to the game by voicing a minute of dialogue for Uriel Septim in Oblivion? Nothing a no-name wouldn't have done. But they get to slap his name on the advertisemants, regardless of the fact his character dies at the end of the tutorial.

He's Professor X from X-Men and Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek. So I'd say yes. Maybe he was a little more relevant in 2006 when the X-Men movies were still new.

Patrick Stewart is great and all but if I was developer I wouldn't worry about putting big names into a videogame. Just a cheap shot to try to get hteir fans to play.

Or how Liam Nelson is the father in FO3, and etc. Hd a view stars in NV voice cast as well.

They did wonderful voice casting for Mr. House.

She's not a no-name actress. From what I'm seeing she's actually Kind Of A Big Deal right now as far as child actors go.

Most voice actors don't make enough money being just a voice actor in the US. Many are also stage actors.

Celebrity names don't count, of course they are also not just voice actors either (and in fact usually aren't voice actors in the conventional sense since they don't alter their voice).

With that price, it's no wonder DA2 devolved into the shameful state it is now. More reason why voice actors don't make a great game, they take away vital resources in rushed games.

o.0 Mybe Okami, Dark souls, Zelda, etc. Have the right idea. Not having much (or any) voices. I like voice acting, adds to atmosphere nd immersion, some even have nice voices (Claudia Black), but thats alot of money tht could have been put into gameplay.

And that is why people in Skyrim repeat the same lines over and over and over and over again :lmao:

Do it like the old days, have only the important dialogue voiced and leave the rest as text only. You save money and improve quantity and possibly even quality of the dialogue :)

In a console game it's pretty much a requirement to have voices, because everyone is so used to it. Ah well, if I want a game with a lot of dialog I have plenty to choose from on the DS since they don't have that same "requirement".

Not only that, but a game with a lot of dialog could be painful to play on an SD television since the text would have to be pretty big. Slow-scrolling text is maddening. :P
