Any evidence of Imperial resistance against the Thalmor?

Question: if they sold Skyrim, why are they still policing it?

What do you mean they sold Skyrim? :unsure2:

I am just worried about being an imperial legion member and doing all of the dark brotherhood quests. May be some conflict there.

thalmor patrolling skyrim, killin every talos believer without the empire doing anything about due to the "deal"

Spoiler
the late high king of skyrim was bought with gold from the empire at the behest of the thalmor.

this is the reason for the high king's assassination, because he sold out his country to the thalmor.

The man is an imposter, if you know who I am talking about. Thus, the conflict isn't that bad although you will still end up confronting guards.

EDIT: @Nightcobra

Is that what he means, or is that a fact?

Okay thanks, I shall add that to the list of evidence that supports Empire submission. Coming from a Talos priest that might be a biased though.

There's more. But remember, you can always deny something even with contradictory evidence. This is actually a common phenomena in a civilization's end-times.

Do we know who the current Emperor is yet? Is he the same idiot who made the treaty with Aldmeri or is he just continuing to enforce his predecessor's terms?

This thing with the imposter makes me think all of this might be some kind of second Jagar Tharn plot that succeeded this time.

Titus and Attrebus Mede seemed like they were okay Emperors in the books, I doubt they would sign that treaty they probably just couldn't take the fight to the Aldmeri during their rule. I like how Titus was a real general who opposed the short-lived usurper *can't remember the first name* the Gibbering, he actually earned his rule and pieced some of what was lost back together. Attrebus seemed to grow by the end too, and had a good heart and a clever head.

But somewhere along the lines, something seems to have gone wrong with one of the Emperors...

As an Imperial citizen I nominate Jonathon for Emperor, a proven devotee of the Empire plus he's got a Barcelona jersey in his pic, that's near instant win in my book.

If I'm right, Attrebus wasn't as good at war as his father was, although he was a good man. The only thing I know about the current Emperor is that he is a Mede.

That's true, he still had a lot to learn even after becoming a hero. One of his progeny is the source of our problems then I guess.

I admit, I haven't heard of this treaty that was signed between the Empire and the Thalmor. Things must have gone very VERY wrong indeed if the Empire is outlawing the veneration of Talos. Isn't Talos a pillar of Imperial identity? It just seems so... extreme. Like offering some middle eastern state peace so long as they stopped venerating Mohammed as the prophet of Allah. It seems like a concession you'd answer by sending the messenger back without his head.

What threat did the Thalmor have over the Empire in order to push that demand through?

A lot can change over 200 years. It's sort of like how Europe got swept up by Catholicism. Romans gave up beliefs in their gods very quickly when they started to lose power, and the Catholic church got swept up in a frenzy of pagan-killing-or-converting. There were cardinals and popes who felt that the second coming would never happen with pagans still around.

Yes, there were probably infiltrations, but by now, they've been so successful that it doesn't matter, the Empire has stopped believing in Talos.

I wonder if the Medes have divine aspirations of their own and they hope to replace Talos veneration with Median adoration.
In this fashion they might feel like they're the hand holding the leash, and perceive the Thalmor as useful hounds.

Ya got me... The elves were never that strong in the past, but I guess they grew in strength as provinces made themselves independent and turned inward, leaving Cyrodiil to fend for itself against the Altmer and Bosmer. Very nice of them *sarcasm*.

And Talos is very important to all races of Men, Imperials included, maybe even especially. I suspect most all would continue to worship him in private even if forced to deny him in public.

To agree to that treaty, this current Emperor or whichever one signed the treaty must be TES Nero because he seems cartoonishly stupid and evil to think outlawing Talos will save him. Or the Thalmor have secretly installed Jagar Tharn Mk II to usurp the Empire and the real Mede is sitting in Oblivion somewhere like in Arena.

Quite possible. I suspect more of a "sitting-throne" emperor, though. He or she just wants to avoid doing any hard work and reap as much benefit as possible. Probably why Cyrodiil is caving so much to Thalmor aggression.

As mentioned before, as an Imperial I have no love for the Emperor, if i must kill him to save my people I wiill. He's become a puppet King.

There is a appquest for that.

Or possibly, the Empire could have grown corrupt for so long, that there are too many people in high places that prevent Cyrodiil or the Emperor from doing any good.

When a mind does not know itself, it is flawed. When a mind is flawed, the man is flawed. When a man is flawed, that which he touches is flawed. It is said that what a flawed man sees, his hands make broken. ^^

This is worth posting again.
