Archer Necromancer

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 9:04 am

My archer is level 14 and I've begun dabbling in conjuration spells. I have perks in smithing and enchanting as well for obvious OP gear reasons. Has anyone tried to go all the way up the conjuration and archery perk trees w/ smithing and enchanting? A dead thrall and other minions plus my tank companion plus my arrows raining death seems like a really fun way to play. Not sure if there are enough perks to go around though!

Way to go. You totally screwed up my new character. I just started a guy this morning...was going to be straight archery. However this idea intrigues me so now I will be doing it. :/

Yes, conjuration/necro is a very solid addition with archery. Heck its very solid with any playstyle, its 2 extra allies that do good damage.

However, you have both enchanting and blacksmithing so you should be more than self-sufficient and probably not even need conjures. That being said, they are very powerful and its completely up to your play-style.

The only problem I have is the 2 summons + companions can sometimes get in your arrows way or block paths. Ditch the companion if you ever face this issue.

That's what I did with my first character. Summon a couple of Dremora Lords while I snipe away at some distance. For me the Dead Thrall spell is worthless however. My Thrall(s) keeps getting lost.

Sounds like my current character.

I based it on the http://uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Classes#Witchhunter from Morrowind.

- Archery
- Light Armor
- Sneak
- Conjuration
- Enchanting

I'm pretty early into the character (only level 5), so I've been reanimating the dead and using my bow while the enemy's distracted. I'm not sure if I'll continue to use the reanimate spells or if I'll switch over to atronachs (or simply do both - just won't take both perk lines). Probably go the atronach route as killing necromancers is part of the gig :)

Sneak, conjuration and archery work really well together even without enchanting and smithing much. Sneak close to a corner, summon something then back away until you are hidden again. Repeat until most are dead then finish off whatever is left with your bow. If you work it right you'll never need your armor.

My guy is currently sort of about to go down that road, nearing level 50 now with Heavy Armour/Two Handed/Conjuration/Smithing/Alchemy/Enchanting and some in Speech, but I'm now starting to use the Bound Bow a fair bit, so I'll probably start perking up Archery.

Ooo the bound bow would make a good addition. It takes from the archery tree like the bound axe etc. Does with 1h?

Only real problem with Necromancy is that zombies can't equip armor, so don't take armor off their corpse if they have it. You can give 'em weapons/shields, though.

Well, also people constantly whine if you have zombies or summons out in cities, so there's that. Hopefully a mod will reduce that, though.

I already play this style, but I use bound bow. It kinda "completes" it

Yeah this is what my character has evolved into.
lvl36 dark elf
Archery 80
Sneak 80
Conj 55
destr 55
Rest 50
enchant 60

Plus companion (Stenvar)

Tend to attack with sneak & bound bow (improves x3 skills at once) Bound bow traps soul with perks too.. As enemy approaches, companion engages & can summon to buffer then sit at the back either restoring or attacking with bow / destruction as needed. I've found that using enchantments to improve all the crappy little rings etc & selling them is a great way to help level up. Plus it would be cool to get enchantment & perks maxed for later on.

Seems to work really well, especially when you find a nice sniper spot, although major weakness is armour (but I can always scurry away ;) I'll be hoping to use that enchantment skill to make some quality armour soon enough.

Conjuration and illusion nicely complement archery and sneak. However, I would rather summon daedra instead of zombies.
