I got Arvak the horse mount you spawn. And almost evertime i dismount....he dies. Sometimes he dies instantly...other times it takes a while. Is this suppose to happen? Does it happen to anyone else? I'm just curious if he is bugged for me or not.

Its supposed to happen. Just recast him and you're good to go.

He's a summon horse, basically working like any other summon spell, except he won't un-summon if you're riding him. After the time passes he will un-summon and play the same death animation like all the other Atronachs/Dremora do.

I seem to notice him disappearing after a longer distance of time lately. Anyone know if this was fixed in an update?

His timer is probably like most Summoned Items, 30 seconds or 60 seconds. However, that timer either gets used up or suspended once you start to ride him. So, it could have something to do with how long after summon him, then ride him, then get off that affects how long he sticks around.

Since I am not using this, I can' test that.

I noticed with necromage perk, he stays around for a little longer. When I dismount, he will even follow me around. Still not very long but longer than before. I do find his death cry a little terrible to hear every time he vanishes though.

I do too. I hate it when he vanishes. I wish he stayed with indefinitely until he died. I find it weird that he follows me around everywhere.

From what I gathered doing the quest, Arvak was a loveable pet of a horse. Very true to his companion so that was my reasoning why he follows me all over, similar to that of a puppy love dog.

Summoning Arvak kind of screws over hybrid necromancers though. I'm guessing without the twin souls perk, I can't use him and have a dead thrall at the same time.

Pretty much, ya. Although why one wouldn't spring for twin souls, I have no idea. I mean, I can have TWO Arvaks!

The problem isn't that you can't have Arvak and a Thrall without Twin souls. The problem is you can't have Arvak and two thralls.

I'm thinking about picking it up, most of my other choice perks have been picked. I'm at level 68 and perks are becoming extremely hard to come by and think I will need 4 to reach it. It's either this or silent casting.

He is on a 60 second timer. If you have been riding him for 5 minutes then as soon as you dismount he will vanish, because the 60 seconds are up. I like the mechanic as I have never liked having a horse in skyrim follow me everywhere in game. If I want one I just cast the spell and away we go.
