Aventus Aretino [May contain a spoiler or two]

Post » Tue Jan 01, 2013 8:13 pm

I'm sorry if this has been asked before (post a link if it has)

But i'm wondering why Aventus Aretino was excluded from the Hearthfire DLC as an adoptable child, He certainly is able to be and should be in the Riften orphanage after his quest "Innocence Lost"

If any child deserves adoption within the game it would be him, It would be great for our assassin style players cause he does mention that he wants to be a DB assassin once he's older.

Very questionable for Bethesda to not add him.

Several theories have been put forward as to why this was. The best are:

1. Aventus had a unique voice actor, who was unavailable to do the supplemental dialogue necessary for adoption (might have had other commitments, or maybe his voice changed and he no longer sounded like a 10-year-old, who knows?)

2. The Aventus character itself is bugged, which is why he never returns to Honorhall. Attempting to patch the issue risked messing up the Dark Brotherhood questline, so Bethesda simply decided to leave him in his house. Out of sight...

I agree with you, it's too bad he wasn't adoptable. My Khajiit vampire assassin would have regarded him as the perfect apprentice.

I think it's Sofie, not Lucia. Maybe it's a Windhelm thing.

For him i tried looking to see who was the voice actor but its unknown but in this time and age of audio equipment advances i doubt it would of been hard to mimic the voice for some new dialog and the quest was fixed in the unofficial patch on Nexus. Its sad they left him cause it would of been the best option but i guess it would be better off a mod with an non-voiced option.

What are ya guys talking about? Aventus has the same voice as the rest of the male children... Unless im seriously becoming deaf...

Also that black sacrament thing with sofie, isn't actually true, sofie out of all the rest children have more unique animations, they kinda worked on her more than the rest of the kids in the game, she has some animations where she go out to the stables and sit near a tree there, or go near her bed and lay down on the floor.
if shes given a wooden sword she has this weird animation where she holds it in one hand and start kinda knock it on the floor, so it looks like stabbing, its nothing similar to the way that aretino boy does it though...

I think Hearthfire actually fixed Aventus in my game. He never went to the orphanage after killing Grelod, but since I got Hearthfire he now goes every time. Still can't adopt him though.

This has been a long standing problem with Bethesda games, especially with high profile actors that can't spare the time to do petty DLC acting.

Maybe they decided someone eager to kill another person just because a child asked it wouldn't be a good parent for said child :P

Actually the quest is bugged and you can fix it with "bandit children" mod or any mod that makes children non essential. It makes Aventus non essential. He leaves his home 2 days after you complete the quest and does in fact return to Honorhall.I can post screen shots of him there. This is not intentionaly done by the mod.It some how fixes the bug where he never leaves and he actually walks back to Honorhall.

He is still not adoptable though, even at the Orphanage.

Angrenor the once Honored (beggar) takes up residence in tthe Arentino houshold exclaiming that he was very good freinds with the Arentino's and he is sure they would not mind him taking over there home now that they are gone.

weird right?I was like wtf is going on here????.When I first saw Aventus walk out the front door......lol

Oh.I have no idea why he is not adoptable.I would bet it's the voice. It is unique to him.

It's kinda cool though. When you walk into the orphanage ,if he noticers you he says "oh!! you came back to visit!!!"

Even if I did get PC Skyrim, no way I'd download a sick mod like that.

The theories I gave were just theories. Only Bethesda knows what the actual issue with Aventus is.
