skyrim cost me $80 in australia, which is just absurd. if i wasn't already a fan of the series i wouldn't have paid. don't get me wrong, it is a great game, but that doesn't justify ripping people off.

You know there are children in Africa who can't even buy water. Here you are with 6 figures complaining about a 60 dollar game. Pathetic.

That is so true. I hate people like this that brag about there $$ yet complain when something that they DON"T need costs a little more than it did last year. Bit of a Penny Pincher aren't you OP? Get over It OP. Life does not revolve around you. Prices go up and down all the time. Its people like this that feel that other companies don't have a right to raise the price of there products to make up for the cost of making them.

Nobody cares about whether or not you buy the game. I'll be busy enjoying Skyrim.

OP. When you've taken a basic class in economics and you've learned about inflation, come back and make another post explaining how you were wrong in your original thread.

Also, read this article: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/10/an-inconvenient-truth-game-prices-have-come-down-with-time.ars

Edit: Also, you should take a class on public etiquette as it is not polite to flaunt how much you make on a public forum. But, since that's already out on the table, it's mildly amusing for you to [censored] about 10 dollars when a good majority of the people on this board make much less than you, and are still willing to make an investment into an experience that can last an upwards of several years (Morrowind i'm looking at you).

Don't forget to stop driving because fuel prices have risen over the years, and of course stop eating food because it costs more than it used to.

Doesn't your whole inflation schpeil conflict with what's in that article?

Inflation means the value of a unit of currency decreases with time, causing higher prices.

But video game prices have dropped significantly since cartridge days, so says the article.

I guess I should also say that I own a PS3 and 360 (among almost every other console since the Atari). I've paid full price to include $59.99 for console games for a long time... but I accept that for consoles. I don't for PC's. Again I wont go into the reasons because I don't want a flame war. But Bethesda... please drop this price soon so I can enjoy the game!

I know you said you wouldn't comment on it... but why the [censored]? If this is all about principle as you said, you should be just as angry about the console versions being pricier. If not, that's just hypocritical.

ummm you think that $60 is a bad price? Games will only keep on getting more expensive as the years pass. Thats the Economy for you, and the Economy bows to no one...

This.

also money inflates. $60 in 2010 is equivalent to $50 in 2000.

DX:HR have been making 3 years (masterpiece on the old engine), and "Witcher 2 same (good game on Crysis-like engine)", Skyrim, i think more then 3 years (greatest engine of all time = this boring game :( )

60$ = 2 month in Blade & Soul, better graphic, better gameplay, much better story. :whistling:

They charge $60 for a PC digital download and they get a large number of sales from it.

They drop it down to $50 eventually and people like the OP will then buy it for $50.

What exactly did Bethesda lose in this?

Eh, I recall reading an article where (edit): 39.99 back in 1991 was the equivalent to ~60 dollars within the 2000-2010 time frame, i'll dig up the article if I can find it again. Regardless, there should be no room for complaint considering it's cheaper to game today than it was in the 90's.

I personally think this game is worth the price, but I never pay full price for other games - they are not worth that price to me.

It's fair enough if this game isn't worth that price to you, or if you just can't afford to pay even if you did think it was worth it. But do get it after a price drop - you won't regret it!

Not quite.

Dollar value is roughly the same now as it was in 2000. The values are
within ~2% of each other. Look your numbers up before guessing.

Wow - by the time I've gone through this thread and smacked down everyone who needs smacking down for flaming, the game will have halved in price!

Seriously. It's bad enough that I could bet no one here would be able to find a single thread without some sort of baseless insult in it, but this specific thread is now 9 pages of random people shouting "lol u dumb!" with no understanding of the OP's concern at all beyond "more money", or even just "Bethesda bad".
