Not much of an improvement IMO.

I'm with the others who think the support beams look too rough. Some of the towns have sawmills, so it's not as though these people are roughly carving wood beams with hand axes. The rest looks good, though.

The resolution of the new textures is much better so it looks better up close. It's also way too noisy in my opinion, making it look worse from far away. Unlike a lot of people, I don't spend my time putting my face against surfaces to notice texture resolution so I'll stick with the original for now.

I'd like to see a texture pack that adds high resolution textures but doesn't make them so noisy and busy. Best of both worlds, in my opinion.

Some textures in the game are woefully undersized for the object in question probably cause the object got scaled up after the fact in the editor, but i think these houses are pretty fine as-is personally.

What Skyrim really could use is detail texture support, way more efficient than just using higher res textures and it's not noisy at a distance either. I haven't noticed any being used ingame myself but i could be wrong, if it's really not implemented i'll be a bit surprised.

I definitely think a higher resolution version of the same type of wood looks better than making all the wood look rough, as if the home builders were too lazy to put in the effort to make the wood smooth and just used full tree logs everywhere.

It looks like the supports are made of bark rather than timber. Other than that, it's great! But I don't understand the use of the bark texture...

This is the problem I always have with tex mods, they change to much the original look. Clearly the mods tex are higher res and more detailed but I don't like all the warelines, looks like the wood is rotting almost, I prefer the smoother and far less weathered look of the original textures, I just wish they did not get blurry up close.
I agree here, the original texture look more like real old wood than the new one who almost look burned to me.
Yes the original should have a bit higher displacement mapping, perhaps some cracks, in addition to better textures naturally.

Yeah pretty much those look a lot better. Now for a new GPU and then I'm downloading that!

this looks great. I just installed it, and t replaces pretty much everything I haven't done yet, but leaves the good textures I already made (it has a much better version of that dreaded bark texture). There's one texture overwritten that I'll replace with my own one, because I think it's better. Then my personal Whoiterun seems to be pretty awesome. Maybe I should contact the author of that replacer id he'd like to have a look at the rest of my stuff. But I guess by the time I can do that, he's finished his own. I'm moving tomorrow, so I won't be around for a couple of time.
