We want to thank everyone reading this for playing our game and supporting all it tries to do. We wouldn’t have this success without you, and we want you to know we’re committed to making your Skyrim experience even better. And not just in the short term, but over the life of the game. Here’s a quick peek at what we’re working on right now: Yay. At this point, I feel a lot of us got excited as we read. They're basically promising us they're going to fix the game. YES!!!
-edited out the PC things. We don't care about this-
Continued Game Updates – This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.
First thing I see here is "among other things" So again, you're purposely being vague, or maybe these other things are almost irrelevant, who knows. Magic resistance fix, backwards flying dragon fix. Awesome. You guys are fixing 2 problems the 1.02 patch created. That's great. I cannot help but not see any mention of Frame rate problems here. You guys don't plan on patching it next week. Okay, I can live with that. I'll just assume you're working on it and it will take a while. (It's the biggest issue, so not mentioning it directly means it's not in the patch)
After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers. Cool. So you're going to address balancing/exploits/glitches in quests. That's great news. But again..No mention of the frame rate problems. The BIGGEST issue we're having. And you're still not addressing it. In fact, Obsidian is, and they aren't even working on the game. Really? Now I'm starting to get worried.
We all know this is a huge game, and everyone has a different experience. We’ll continue to do everything we can to make the game better and better for as many people as possible every day. We’ve also realized that with the millions upon millions of people playing Skyrim, we need to treat our updates with greater care. If we get too aggressive trying to fix a minor issue, we run a risk of breaking something larger in a game like this.
It is a huge game. There is still no excuse for telling us it's a new engine, and not repairing a glitch that is GAME BREAKING and that has been in, since the beginning of PS3 games you've made. You claim you want to make the game better, but you're really not proving it. Actions speak louder than words. And in 3 weeks, you've released 1 patch, which hardly addressed the lag, and in some cases, made it worse. I'm glad you want to take greater care. That's a positive note. But start taking care of US and fix the real problem that everyone desperately wants fixed.
To be safe, we are prioritizing code side fixes right now over data fixes. Quest and balance issues are usually data, and those will start rolling in a large way with the January updates. I'm VERY excited that you are not worrying about quest bugs so much right now. This is the best, most promising part of the post. Thank you!
Thanks again for your continued support and patience. We truly have the best fans in the world, and we couldn’t do it without you.
The ball is in your court now, Bethesda. You tricked us all. You took ALL of our money, and all we're left with is a broken game, our hopes crushed, and frustration that won't go away. If you love your fans THIS much. Update us. if you can't fix the game, ADMIT IT to us. Don't have some dev from New Vegas explain it to us. There isn't really anything else to say. I just hope that these words are backed up by actions. I love Skyrim so much, and yet I cannot play it. All of these people feel the same.
