Building a Vampire Hunter

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:11 am

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and I have a small question, what is the best way to build a vampire hunter? I got a character set up and i'm training his archery but what else should I train him on? One-Handed? Two-Handed? Heavy Armor? Light Armor? If you can give me some advice or direct me to a place where I can read up on it I will appreciate it!

It looks to me that there is more than one armour type for the Dawnguard. One looks light and the other heavy so you could go either. I don't know this for certain though. Archery and restoration (for turn undead spells). As for weapons then there will probably be both one and two handed.

One handed (daggers and swords), archery, light armor, alchemy, and restoration. Sneak and speech for leftovers

There is no specific character build. The point of the game isn't to build a character "class" based on what other people think is right, but rather to have fun with your character by making him/her the way YOU want. Be imaginative with it; maybe you'll make a unique, yet effective play style that other people will adopt.

Use a crossbow as your primary offense, obviously. Light armor for defense, maybe block if you can bash with the crossbow. Also dual wield a war axe and a dagger.

Depends really. Do you want to go for more of a Paladin holy defender build, or a Van Helsing agile ranger build?

* Paladin build - I'd go Imperial or Nord, Heavy Armor, One Handed, Block, Restoration. Maybe throw in Smithing, and perhaps Archery and/or Speech.

* Van Helsing type build - I'd go Argonian or Khajiit (or Redguard if you want to play a human character). Light Armor, One Handed, Archery, perhaps Sneak, and either Restoration or Alchemy.

Either way, you'll probably want either Lord, Steed, or Warrior for your sign.

This is exactly what I'd suggest, except I would say have sneak and alchemy replaced. The only thing I'd say you'd need alchemy (from a rp perspective) is to mix potions, specifically of cure disease.

Enchanting and smithing would also be good, as you can say you're specially designing weapons to combat the undead.
