Whenever i talk to him, no dialog options appear. Found this on the wiki


So anyone got a fix? Wiki says use console commands but im on 360. I

Just keep doing quests in markarth. Eventually the option to buy the house will re-appear. You must be at least level 20 and have done enough quests in markarth for it to reappear.

Im level 36 and done the 5 quests needed, still no option

This is not correct. I'm level 47, and have completed 20 or so quests, including the required one.

I thought I had this bug. Jarl had an option about buying a house but he would say something about not trusting me. Then that option went away and no one would talk to me about getting a house. However I did all the quests for the Jarl, last one being a quest to recover his fathers shield, and on completion he said I could now by a house. I talked to Raerek and was able to buy and fully upgrade the house. I just did this at level 30.

I think the option went away completely after the escape from cidhna mine quest.

There are three primary quests you must do for the Jarl. The first two you get from his right-hand man, and they both involve killing Forsworn (Bruca's Leap Redoubt and Red Eagle Redoubt). The last you get from the Jarl himself, and it involves retrieving Hrolfdir's Shield. He won't give you this quest until you're 20th level.

The five quests to become Thane of Markarth have nothing to do with getting access to Vlindrel Hall. They are obtained from various citizens, not the Jarl or his right hand. Don't confuse the two.

Sometimes quest prompts won't activate if you have any unfinished radiant quests (bountys and such). Finish them and try again. If all of this doesn't work, and you still aren't given the option, it's bugged and you're screwed. The only way around it is to go through the civil war quest, and side with the Stormcloaks. The Silver-Bloods take over, and the new Jarl will instantly give you the ability to purchase Vlindrel Hall.

This might sound strange, but if you haven't already done so, enter the Temple of Talos in Markarth. Don't need to do anything in there. Just walk in and walk right back out. Then go talk to the stewart or the Jarl and see if the dialogue option appears.
