Cap on Damage?

Post » Tue Jun 26, 2012 6:22 am

I think weapons in Skyrim should have caps on damage. Like a Daedric sword, even with Fortify Smithing 1000% could only be upgraded to do only 180 damage or something along the lines of that. The fact that we can make an iron dagger the best weapon in the game defeats the purpose of DLC that add new weapons. Whats the point of having a Steel sword doing the same damage as a Dragon longsword?

Wait, what? You can make an iron dagger the best? So does this also mean you can make iron armour the best? 'Cause that armour looks bad ass

Yes, by smithing.

Personally I'd favor a moddable cap on Fortify Smithing/Alc/Enchant along the lines of 100% over the base effect. That would still leave open the possibility of creating very strong weapons but would remove infinite synergistic loops and lessen the impact of overstacking boni in general when it comes to crafting.

If your talking about mods or spamming fortify enchantments and potions then there really isnt any point in suggesting damage caps, just appreciate the fact that the new weapons look cool.

use enchanting to get more damage on it.

by exploiting everything, i had a Ebony axe that has over 10000 fire damage
I got rid of it because it ruined all the fun of actually having a struggle in a fight

You can get more damage on it though

Umm there is a cap on every weapon. It's whatever the max you can get from (think its around 226%, legitamately before adding things like resto talents and resto potions)

So that's your cap. If you're talking about glitches then just use self restraint.

Yes I do have a set of daggers, bow and armor I call Zeus' set that I exploited to get like 700 damage on each dagger and 2k with the bow along with silly OPed enchants on weapons and armor. I used them once for poops and giggles. But they vastly break the game.

I since smithed a max legit version, but again too powerful for myself. So I made it so that ancient dragons will die with 10-13 shots. This made it a very nice balance.

why would there have to be a cap on anything? some people like to play around with their 200,000,000,000,000 damage longbow, the only thing you have to do is not make it (as hard as the concept of not exploiting seems to be to most people, it is actually very very simple). in TES you are supposed to be able to be anythign you want, including a demi-god, if you try, please stop attempting to change this stuff

NO... just plain NO..

If you want to play by fair rules, then do it.. my character being an Ancient Vampire (soon to be Ancient Vampire Lord), he is suppose to be a bit overpowered.

I still get owned by Master Pyromancers from time to time though..
