Console Command additem and placeatme not working?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 4:55 pm

I tried to use both additem and placeatme to try to test something but neither of them work.

I typed in-

player.additem 193b6 (and 000193b6 and 000193B6 and 193B6)

but nothing worked.. If anyone had some ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

What patchlevel are you up to? I used both commands today - but I'm still at the first 1.4 patch.

You have the right code? Also you need to place a 1 after it, to specify you want one of the item added.

I don't know how I'd check the patch I'm on, and yes, I did add a 1.

Thanks for the fast help, though. Do you know what could be happening?

You're right.... I missed that part (that's what happens when I pretend to multitask....)

Icecube, you check the patchlevel in game when you enter the skills menu, and maybe even the inventory menu - I'm not in game right now, so not positive.

And you need to make sure you have a space before the 1....

My only guess is that the item's ID could be off...can check with:
help "name of item" 4
-with quotes.

Other than that, I'm clueless. Sorry

In the game, when you open certain screens (and that's what I'm not sure about since I'm not in game right now) the current patch number shows in the bottom left corner of the screen.

What item are you trying to spawn?

I am looking to spawn a daedric dagger

And it doesn't show on either the inventory screen or the skills menu. I'll keep looking

Okay, let me jump in game, figure out where you can see the patch number, and see if I can spawn the dagger. Back shortly, and will edit this post.

Edited for info:

In order to find your patch number, hit ESC - the bottom left corner will have the patchlevel numeric. Tiny numbers, greyish, hard to see.

Now, I just spawned a daedric dagger using this:

player.additem 139b6 1 (followed by enter).

If that's what you were actually putting in, there's no reason it shouldn't be working. Unless you're on the second 1.4 patch, or patch 1.5, and something in that screwed it up.

Also, placeatme isn't planned to work for items, just for npcs AFAIK.

Ah.... That WILL make things difficult! Glad you got it sorted, and you're welcome, no problem - happy adventures!

[Little trick with numbers from the wiki - they're TINY.... copy the number and paste into notepad - should remove the formatting so you can ACTUALLY SEE the damn things....]
