Actually, there STILL is a way to play Crysis2 multiplayer online.

Although GameSpy has shut down and the traditional way to play C2 MP has ended, you can still play Crysis 2 multiplayer online through the use of a mod called "Nanowars".

The mod is free for download here: http://nanowars.wix.com/beta

Just follow the directions to install the mod. The only problem is a lot of people don't know this mod even exists, so there might not be enough people to play a match at certain times of the day. So check back often to find people to play with. As more people find out about this C2 MP Nanowars mod, the population issue may improve.
