[WIPz/BETA] DarNified UI F3

Post » Mon Aug 17, 2009 5:27 pm

Made a new prefab for position controls:

http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duif3Settings3.avi - XVid, 1280x800, 8.11 MB

You can't see everything too good here because of the video compression, but there's an area behind the text that lights up when you hover it. Click and drag on that with the LMB to move stuff around. You can use the scroll wheel too, which I also do in the video, although it kinda looks like I'm dragging because of the mouse sensitivity. It's not easy being accurate while recording. :)

I'm thinking of removing the arrows, as they're really not needed (maybe if your scrollwheel is busted).

Is there any chance for a short PreRelase of the UI - or any ETA ? ;) ? I really really miss knowing the stats of my weapons, especially with the many dozends of weapons from FOOK (which i love a LOT) - but not knowing their real stats while playing really svcks a but.

Im basically taking small steps any many breaks hoping for the DarNified UI :D

No ETA yet. I'm almost done with the last control I needed to make to get the settings working though. Now it's just a matter of filling in some code here and there. Weapon stats will not make it in alpha 10 though.

Aww, not even 1/2 stats? (base damage & crit mult, without taking into account durability) rest we can live without ^_^.

HugePinball is also working on something and might release it earlier than Darn (who has also to work on other parts of his great UI mod)

Nope. I already have way more stuff added than I intended. Feature creep deluxe. :)

Everything looks to be working like a dream. I don't think the arrows look bad, plus it helps to have something to indicate a different input types or controls.

I seem to be encountering a problem. When reading notes the bottom sentence is either partially cut off or completely missing. I'm not sure if it's a problem with font or what, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's not really a game breaking problem, but it is a little bothersome.

Great news! Bethesda is aware of the 100 point skill cap...and is doing nothing about it! -_-

Wow darn the new movable menu looks great, i think you should leave the arrows there...
From a software dev's pov, users like standard things...
If not arrows, make them + -...

Oh boy, so now that means we can have completely maxed-out characters with almost no effort. As if doing it wasn't easy enough already with a little bit of planning. Whee.

Up to 100 cost 1 point per point of increase, 101-200 cost 2 points per point of increase, 201-300 cost, I believe 4 points per point of increase.

As I understand it, the 100 limit is so hardcoded, it's not worth the effort to fix. I consider it a design flaw. I have a feeling it could be worked around though. Jaga started something in that direction before going on one of his walkabouts.

---

Got all the settings added and working now: http://ui.darnified.net/wip/F3/duisettings1.jpg

All that remains is some basic layout work. I may add an alignment setting. Could be good if you decide to move stuff to the other side of the screen...
