This was my first game in the series I bought. I actually only bought it a few hours ago after watching it on www.direct2buy.com and youtube.

So I install it and try playing.

1st the joypad doesnt work.

So I try to set keys to move. Well the numpad keys say I cant use them for moving around " 4 8 6 2" Even with numlock on. Then When i do use "A S W D" My man just moves forward left and right. But while moving left and right he "doesnt turn" This means now I haveto use my left hand to move and right hand mouse to turn..... I wuld of perfered to use the numpad keys to begin with.

Then the fact I cant even seemy man. Whats the point of playing the game if i cant

I not even got to attack yet as I can't even move properly.

I am guessing this game is very keyboard unfriendly

How can i set the controlls better?
How can i auto roate turn without using a mouse
Can i make it so i see my charater?

I would like to use the Numberpad arrows to move and 7 ;eft hand 9 right hand to use my man

Well two hours later i still at the opening tower.


I cant hit F and see my man.

O cant attack with anyting. I guess i dont even own anything.

And I can't even move prpperly. Having to use a mouse to point dirrection and a keyboard to move forward is lame

You have to escape the dragon before you can do anything... have you forgotten you're cuffed?

You can either play it with a controller of using the mouse and keyboard, you cant effectively turn your camera using your mouse alone, most PC games are like this.

Key bindings are currently fairly broken, but will be fixed with future patches/mods.

Whats wrong with the controls? Its just like it was in Oblivion and every other fps for that matter.

Sounds like if you found the PC controls complicated you may have been better off on the consoles. Also there is a menu where you can change the controls on the PC version, fairly sure of this though unsure as I am playing Skyrim on Xbox 360 right now and won't be getting PC version till later for the mods of course.

You can't rotate without using the mouse. That's how all primarily first person games work, pretty much. How do you aim an arrow if you're facing a direction that the camera is not looking in?

You cannot attack anything, or pick anything up until later in the tutorial.
Your hands are bound together by the guards, and later someone will untie you and you can pick up weapons and stuff.

Im sorry about the UI problems youre having.
I play on xbox so cant really help there.

Though I remember from this forum that a lot of pc players were having problems with their controls.
Seems it works better if you disable xbox controller in the menu.
(I dont know precisely, but thats what I remember.)

I hope you plan to keep at the game a little more, it really is worth it.
Imo best game Ive played in almost a decade.

Which Joypad??

I played Oblivion on Xbox 360, and bought skyrim on the PC for better graphics/mods. Because the game is certified as "Games for Windows" it means I can use the Xbox 360 controller (PC Version)- Its the perfect setup for me, comfortable control like on a console, but with the horsepower of a PC - win win!!

Other joypads should work, but the official one is guranteed to work - its wonderful!!
