Does anyone subscribe to an overseas magazine?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:55 am

I'm considering subscribing to the US version of Game Informer via http://www.isubscribe.co.uk/Game-Informer-Magazine-Subscription.cfm. I'm not worried about them scarfing away with my money, I'm more wondering how long it will take to arrive? And is there a chance it will get caught at customs?

My friend in the US sent me the Skyrim copy of GI yesterday and was told 6-10 working days but I'm not sure if this is the case for subscriptions (I'm also not sure what method she sent it...)

Any help appreciated and cookies given. (Not begrudged cookies :cookie: )

I too was considering subscribing to Game Informer. At the moment, I'm subscribed to Guitar Techniques which is an English magazine, and I'm Irish, so the wait is tolerable. :P

It's over twice the US dollar price!

http://www.gameinformer.com/p/subscribe.aspx - they say email them customer service about overseas subscriptions.

How much is the magazine in $?

Edit: Just looked. Holy geez. Its more than twice the price because the link I showed you was in £, not $. So times it by 1.5, so approximately $75 for a year. The magazines I subscribe to are generally about £40 a year so I thought it was an okay price with the international postage. Obviously not.

Just sent them a message to ask about international subscription (as per their site) and ironically the state and zip are required fields. Oy.

You could try asking WH Smith to order it, but I suspect that, even if they did, wouldn't be cheap either!

There are some copies on ebay.com, even the latest issues, eg http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Game-Informer-Magazine-February-2011-issue-/380309806465?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588c3b1d81

Doesn't GameInformer offer a digital magazine as well? Can't you just subscribe to that?

As for me, I don't subscribe to overseas magazines. I'm a U.S. resident and I have subscriptions to both GameInformer and Rolling Stone

I did have a look at individuals on eBay actually but think it would be a small fortune. Just that Skyrim issue alone is nearly $20 including shipping and with a day to go it will probably go up. ;)

I've never subscribed, but sometimes I buy imported overseas magazines in a local store. But buying imported magazines there cost almost three times more than it's actual price.
