Yeah, I was wondering about "ancient Nord armor" too because I've seen people mention it, but have yet to see it.

Just complete the Companions questline and use the Skyforge.

Cool. It's only at Iron level, so you'll want to upgrade it. It's one of the better looking armors though.. at least as far as the Nord theme goes. I think you can upgrade it even further if you have the Daedric perk.

There is ancient nordic armor in Forelhost, dropped by the ghost dragon cultists.

Forelhost is behind riften, in a mountain. It looks as if it is not in skyrim anymore.

with proper smithing the armor rating can be boosted past the cap and that is without having to put on the stupid looking female helm. Thank goodness for mods to make the female helm look like the male helm

i actually collected one of those helmets recently. Nice looking indeed, but it had crappy stats, so I sold it. Point is you can get it for your character.
