Just entered my first mine. First day on the game. In Embershard Mine, I can see two drawbridges that are to fall and meet so one can cross. How to get the drawbridges down? Suggestions???

There should be a side passage with a lever that will lower the bridge.

I went through that one on my stealth assassin just yesterday. After you lower the bridge, some bandits come down the entranceway looking for whoever lowered the bridge so be prepared. Luckily, they don't try very hard. I was able to stealth kill everyone in the cave except an archer on one of the upper paths.

Thanks. I will look for that. I am a newbie and, strangely, am finding this much harder to get started than Oblivion, where I am a 5-year vet.

The thing with doors, drawbridges and the such are, that there is always a lever, handle or chain near by to open / lower it. So you will get used to look out for those.

The lever you are looking for in the Embershard Mine is on the floor. When you have the drawbridge to your left (and the stairs where the first bandits came at you to the right), you just head straight forward. That will lead you to a small room from where you again watch directly back to the drawbridge. There on the floor is the lever you are looking for.
