Fallout 3 GOTY Edition Worked on Windows 10 but now doesn't

Hey I have an issue with my game now and could use some help.

A couple of things that need to be said: I upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. The game still worked fine even after the upgrade but stopped working after I turned the computer on and off (Main reason being that the sound on my computer suddenly stopped working and the task-bar wouldn't work so had to do a manual shutdown.) . I was playing the broken steel DLC and just recently made it onto Adams AFB.

System Specs:

  • I have a 64 bit OS.

  • Windows 10 (Was playing FO3 on windows 8.1 working fine with patch and upgraded to windows 10 working fine until stopped working)

  • ASUS Laptop

  • Using Steam Version of Fallout 3 GOTY Edition

I had added the patches and fixes outlined in the guide (ULTIMATE Fallout 3 Setup & Mod guide Windows 10, 8 & 7 by BenWah) ( I upgraded to windows 10.

I even downloaded the newest updated version of the UPDATED Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch ( had the pre-November 2015 patch).

I also disabled Games for Windows Live. I have since enabled it and it still doesn't work. I did notice that on the start screen that the downloads select area was dark.

All DLC is selected and still doesn't work. I am still able to go to the menu screen and select a save and watch the loading screen but it always crashes. I even went back to a save that was before I got onto Adams AFB as well as a save that was not in a DLC specific area (i.e. Seward square and not in the presidential metro) :wallbash: . It didn't work.

I notice that during the loading screen there will often be a bluish line on the left-hand side each time it loads and it will always eventually crash soon after the line shows.

Not sure what to do. I was originally alright with not being able to finish this replay but it has been over 5 years since I last played it and now I am quite anxious because I am so close to finishing it. :(

I really could use any and all help. It would make me so happy.

Thanks and hope you have a great day. :thanks:
