For those who have used Mjoll

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:44 pm

Im thinking I will use MjollIm as my
main follower, but this Aerin guy has to go. The uesp has a bit of conflicting ways to
go about ridding myself of him. I'm curious to those who have used her, how'd you get rid of Aerin and did it cause any issues?

He doesn't come with you on quests but he will be around at all other times. I haven't done this myself but I've read about others Furying/Frenzying him and getting him killed that way. Or you can just kill him and pay the bounty and be done with it. Mjoll has no Moral score (0), so she'll tolerate you killing him and still follow you and even marry you. So lop his head off, pay the bounty, and you never have to worry about his groveling carcass again.

I think it's cool there's a blind puppy dog character in the game, and I wonder if the writers made him "after" somebody as a private joke.
Anyway it adds some dimension; I mean, she's not just a follower with a nice big quest is she----here we are talking about him again.

[added] Anyway OT, I considered using her but I wouldn't marry her not because I'm straight but because of her baggage.

Aerin is not a problem if you just have her as a follower. It's only annoying if you marry her. If you marry her, it is possible to remedy the situation without murdering him by tricking him into living in the wrong house.

considering we are talking about a bunch of code, I'd say it's an adequate verb

I never had a problem with Aerin and he's only a problem if you marry Mjolll. If you marry her first pick to move in with her(to avoid the no lovers comfort) then while she's acting as a follower move into one of your houses. Aerin should stay at home from now on. But if you keep her as an active follower Aerin will stay home anyway. If she's going to be your primary follower one advantagious reason to marry her is Lover's Comfort now works whenever you sleep in the same area as your wife. So even some bedroll in a dungeon will provide the benefit if your wife is an active follower.

Mjoll is truly essential she can't die even if one of her power attacks misses the enemy and swipes her while she's knelling down.

Couldn't care less about the little twerp tagalong. I sell her to the blades once her constant dialogue gets annoiying.

Every time I use her as a follower, Aerin never comes along. Why does everyone else say he comes everywhere with them? The other day I was in a giant camp and used my lightning attack one too many times so she left and there he comes running right into the camp. Let's just say he was not stepped on by a giant. I then got her back real quick, finished off the giant camp and noticed Aerin's dead body.

No one says that, what they say is Aerin only follows Mjoll when she's not following the dragon born. Its only a problem when she's your wife.

Mjoll is AWESOME!! So awesome in fact, that I married her. Of course, I had to kill Aerin but Mjoll is one bada$$ with enchanted Daedric armor, Kanorik mask, daedric two handed ax and a couple of enchanted jewelry (ring and necklace). I fear nothing and no one when she's around.

Kill Aerin, then marry her, you'll be glad you did. She just talks a lot.

Mjoll is the follower I use with my Assassin chick. I put her in Legendary Falmer armor with a Legendary Ebony Greatsword. I don't "need" her because I didn't start using her until I was past 50, but she looks like my body guard when I'm in town because I wear civilian clothes (Tavern Clothes, Noble Clothes, or Emperor's Robes) in towns and around non-hostiles. Mjoll is badass in combat and she has a really cute personality when you're just roaming around. :P

I don't get it why people call him a problem for the case that you marry Mjoll. As far as I can tell from observing the two, Mjoll doesn't have any romantic feelings towards him, but considers him as a friend. And he is too shy to tell her his own feelings, which won't change after she is married to someone else. Sure, he'll suffer and be depressed, but he's too shy to actually tell his love/your wife about that.

So, what's the problem? Your wife dares to have a social life outside of your bedroom or what?

Slightly off topic , but I've met Mjoll on entering Riften and heard her story about Grimsever but it didn't trigger the mission to retrieve it and thus get her as a follower :nope: ! Are there prerequisites for this?

Its a misc quest(no words flashing on screen), I think level 10 and the sword is always there you can get it with out the quest.

I never married her yet, but (on the PC) I assumed if he ever appeared in my house I would just open the console and disable him. Then he's just gone forever. As far as I can tell he has no attachment to any quests or anything else.

Most guys refuse to believe that once you're in the "Friend Zone" you're always in the "Friend Zone".

Well, if the only thing preventing your wife from cheating is having another guy live in the house then even if there is no other guy living in the house it's just a matter of time before she cheats elsewhere.

All that being said: it is a bit annoying and a little creepy that he's always around and I would probably arrange an accident had I married Mjoll, moved her and he moved with us.

I took Mjoll as a follower, and then got a Shill job from the Thieves' guild. So she's standing right next to me as I'm asked to plant some evidence on her to implicate her in some crime or other....

It's like how she goes on about destroying the TG and then I go to a fence with her as a follower and the fence says, "...normal Thieve's Guild rates.". I usu say, "Shh, shh - not in front of the straight." aloud. :P
