Glass "Ore"? and Mines..

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:46 pm

I have found several Mines now... but there is no Glass inside. Where do i get it? I can forge Glass Weapons, but i cant find the Ressources for it.

Another Questeion:
If i took all ore in a Mine, does it respawn later, or is it away forever?

Just a guess based off my rather juvenile understanding of minerals, but I believe "glass" is supposed to be a type of amber, so I'd look at caves near the forest which is to the southeast on the Skyrim map.

I don't actually know though. That's just a hunch.

I've read others who wrote that the ore does re-spawn, but I have no idea what the timeline is on that.

TES glass ain't the stuff I drink out of when I get thirsty :)

But if my memory serves, it's not commonly found in Skyrim (the province)

You're referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_glass, of which there are several types. I always thought it was called glaes, but apparently that's not even a word.

Historically, some cultures referred to certain types of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amber as glass. This is especially true in the Baltic regions.

I suspect that based off the way it's used in most RPGs and because of the coloring of the glass weapons and armor in the last game, it's the volcanic type in this game. That would be the Eastern region of the map for Skyrim I suspect. Again, just a hunch, but that's where the volcanic activity is in Skyrim. It may or may not actually correlate in the game. It's going to be around Eastmarch if the game designers put the glass near the volcanic areas.

For now.. i can say "Volcanic Glass" = "Orichalcum" - There is no "Glass" that you can find... so the Weapons should be renamed to "Orichalcum XXXX"

Oh.

I've found two of those in a cave. It was some kind of pass. I think it was called Brittleshin Pass. It goes from one side of a mountain range through to the other. I found it while looking for a quick way to get to the dragon stone.

If I remember correctly, you need Orichalcum and Moonstone ingots.

I wish they'd make mining deposits easier to spot. I keep bypassing them all the time unless I'm really focusd on finding them.
