As far as replay value goes, I'm going to assume Grand Theft Auto IV comes out on top. For just about everything else, I strongly preferred Mafia II. Gunplay, vehicles and handling, characters, etc. were better than GTA IV by far.

I'll take Mafia the First for 500, Alex.

I don't think I've actually played enough Mafia 2 to really make a fair comparison. GTA leaves me feeling mostly disappointed (as do most Rock Star games, I guess). It all feels like a giant missed opportunity. You've got this great, huge, open world and completely fail to take advantage of it like ever.

I've only played Mafia II. But it seems to me that GTA IV would be the better choice first, then maybe get Mafia II later.

GTA IV has no replayability IMO. It took itself too seriously.

Mods. Plenty of mods for GTAIV that give it years of re playability.

Mafia 2 was downright horrible and I expected more since Mafia 1 was great.

Definitely GTA 4. I've played through both; Mafia 2 was short, no reply value whatsoever, missions were generally pretty boring, story was bland etc. Only good thing it had was the driving mechanics and gunplay, but even that was limited by the limited selection of both vehicles and guns. GTA 4 will last a lot longer, the missions are funner (IMO) and the story is infinitely better.

GTA IV, it's better in every way.
