I was just wondering if anyone has found a fix to this issue of using bound sword and having CTD's?

I actually didn't realize there was a problem with that. I am playing a mage and on the rare occasions I use weapons I only use bound ones. Just used the bound sword several different times playing a little while ago and have never had an issue with it.

I've used bound sword a fair amount, both one handed and dual-wielded. I've never had a problem with it causing crashes. What is the exact nature of the problem you're having?

When I go to cast bound sword in either hand the game CTD. Did some research and others do have this problem because beth might have changed the spell ID's to bound sword. I personally can't confirm this but if you search this forum for "bound sword CTD" you will see several others have had this issue. I just couldn't find a fix other than starting a new game as the save might be corrupted.

It works fine for me on the latest update (1.5.26). Are you using any mods that affect spells?

The thing is I have used these since the beginning of my character and I was able to use bound sword initially. I am able to cast the other bound weapons. I'm also using midas magic and the bound dagger spell from that mod causes CTD.

I would suggest following up with the authors of those mods because this doesn't happen in the default game. Any fix to this problem will have to come from the author of the mod that causes the problem in the first place.

Bump: It does happen in the default game, others who've tried reinstalling the game and Steam find the same glitch. I don't use any mods that affect magic or spells, but I get the same CTD. I can use "Bound Battleaxe" without problem, and I can use "Bound Sword" in my left hand, but when I conjure "Bound Sword" in my right (main) hand it crashes. I can hold the charge down for the right hand, and keep it humming there without problem, but when I release the left mouse button and the character's hand starts to open, instant crash. All I want is to dual-wield to see if bound swords get speeded up by the "Elemental Fury" Shout!

Other threads on the net have blamed the crash on "Bound Sword" having 3 spell ID:s in the game code, when it's just supposed to have one, supposedly due to Bethesda patching the game at some point. How could I erase the unneeded spell ID:s? Are they written in some .ini file?

I can't reproduce this in my game, but my character doesn't have any Conjuration perks. Perhaps you could investigate this. It is possible that a particular Conjuration perk is breaking this spell's functionality. I would start by looking at the perks that alter bound weapon behavior. There are at least three bugs filed on the tracker for this issue and two of them have been discarded due to lack of reliable repro steps.

Same problem here... bound on left hand with no problem... but not on the right hand (there you get a CTD) Never used the mod you describe here before, just Phenderix Magic Evolved...

I tried unlearning the spell my console command, the learning it again. Unlearning it, learning it from a NPC.

What I didnt tried is a new game (but I wont start all over again :-p)

PS: tried new game, have no problem! so, it maybe the savegame?
