How can i survive underwater? : Fallout: New Vegas

Ive found an underwater passage in one of the vaults and i cant last long...tried using buffots for endurance but its not enough...Is there something that will allow me to breathe underwater with no problems, if so where exactly...thanx

there is in fact a piece of equipment you can use to survive but how to get it is a pretty big spoiler id think. only read if you truly want to know, as i dont know how far alot of people are in this game if theyve been encountering bugs and such.

if you are working for the NCR after benny escapes from the tops casino, they will ask you to go get the Boomers on your side. you do various quests for them to gain good reputation and you learn their dream is to fly in the sky. this requires raising a 300 year old sunken b-29 bomber at the bottom of lake mead using ballast. if you get a pressure cooker and give it to jack (or jake?) hell make a rebreather that allows you to breathe for unlimited amounts of time.

there you go. it 100% works and is quite awesome really.

Go to the boomers, do their quests, one of the engineers will have the ability to make you a "Rebreather" that'll give you water breathing.

I have discovered more than 50 locations so far..where exactly can i find the boomers? thanx

Going to the strip and talking to the NCR ambassador will reveal the location. Otherwise they're in the northeast corner of the map, north of the dam.
