How to make Arena run faster?

Post » Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:10 am

I am an arena noob so if i sound stupid pleaase forgive me, im dumb :)

However i have just managed to start up arena and make my new character to find that the game play is kinda of jurky and it seems to move frame by frame.
I have tried pressing F11 a few times (like the manual on how to make arena work with modern PCs) and observeed no change and done the same with F12 (just to make sure i wasn't doing it wrong) but it still seemed to make no difference.

Can someone please help, evan if that means im to be told im doing it totaly wrong and am stupid, i need to play this game!

First, I hope you're using DOSBox or else CTRL+F12 won't work at all.

Hold down CTRL and press F12 a couple of times. This will increase the amount of cycles. If the cycles is about 15000 or so, it should be reasonably playable.

If it's still too slow, then try to write these two lines before you start the game in DOSBox.
CORE DYNAMIC
CYCLES 15000

If that still doesn't help, chances are that your CPU is too old and too slow to emulate the game properly thru DOSBox, although this is kinda unlikely. But what CPU do you have?
