How to make a Custom Voice Type?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:34 pm

Hey fellas, okay so i am making a character with a voice created by a Voice Actor. The problem is that i dont know how to make Voice Types so now when i walk up to the character he will first have a normal Nord voice and sey "Hey, What?, etc..." But as soon as i start talking to him he changes to my Voice Actors voice. How do i make a custom Voice Type with my Voice Actors recordings? Please i cant find any tutorials out there about this matter nor any forum posts...

In previous games, under one of the main headings in the Object Window was the catagory 'Voice Type'. Just click that (Assuming voice types work the same way still) and then right click in the list and say New. Then pick that as your NPC's voice type.

That was it! Thank you very much! ^^ One question remains tho, where to put the "Hey, What?, etc" sound files?

If you look at each info, it gives you a name for that dialogue line. Name your files those lines, then place them in "Sound/Voice/MyMod.esp/MyVoiceType/" For example, if my voice type was MaleUniqueJohn, and my mod was called CoolFollower.esm, the voice files for characters with the voice type MaleUniqueJohn would go in 'Sound/Voice/CoolFollower.esm/MaleUniqueJohn/' Then just make a folder for each voice type under 'MyMod.esp/' and that's how you structure dialogue files.

Ah great, thank you so much for the help! Could you send me your Steam ID? You seem to know alot of stuff about the sound and it would be great to have someone to ask if i stumble upon more problems ;)

No offense, but I'd rather not. I keep Steam (Dispite Skyrim and moddings complete integration into it) for playing games with friends, and I like my modding to be separate.

However, you are welcome to send me a message right here on the forums whenever you have a question. Though, dispite modding for 3 years, I have learned little of the new stuff in the CK, so I may not actually be the most helpful person in the world. :P I check the forums every 30-60 minutes so you should still get a very quick response from me.

I'm trying to do this also - but I don't quite understand how to do it. When I create a new voice type - it doesn't give me any options other than naming the voice type. Do I do the rest from the characters dialogue? I have a unique character - but her generic hello is the highelf and I wanted to change the generic hellos to a recorded voice. She also has a quest line outside for a short duration so I also wanted to change the dragon dialogue to a recorded voice in case there is a dragon attack while she is outside. This dialogue is labled as <> though.

Would I have to change all the generic dialogue because there is a lot of it? Some refers to lock picking, combat etc etc - I don't mean change it but rather record the voice file - and how do I get the dialogue to point to the voice file? Is it possible to do a simple record like when creating new dialogue (there is a record button).

The other option would be to do a really good impression of the highelf character so the difference isn't so noticeable but I need good graphic equalization for that, and a good voice actor.
