Is it identical to the Solstheim of Morrowind?

Post » Fri Dec 07, 2012 12:11 am

So, is Dragonborn's version of Solstheim identical to that portrayed in Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion? I played that years ago, and have great memories with it. Is most of Solstheim still wilderness? What about Raven Rock, Fort Frostmoth, or the Skaal Village? How about Thirsk or that downed "air ship?" Just how much from the original Morrowind version is still there? I haven't made up my mind to get this expansion pack yet, but I may. I don't exactly have much time for video games anymore, like I used to.

It would have been strange had nothing changed since we last visited. I mean, i can't think of many areas irl that have been inhabited that haven't evolved beyond all recognition over the same period of time. Then there's the ash.

It's changed but that's to match the lore. The southern half is coated in ash and dead trees, and there are more Dunmer than before.

Skall Village is tiny..
The original Skall was only about nine buildings, if memory serves. And most of those building were small huts. I haven't seen the place in years but my memory is that it felt very small.

They got the earth stone in the wrong place GRRRR

And no, it looks nothing like solstheim

the Skaal village is meant to be on a hill and have an old nordic bridge accross the river to castle Karstaag

All the buildings you mentioned including the dwemer airship are still there, only the landscape has changed but what do you expect after hundreds of years, it is still very nostalgic and i wouldn't let anybody put you off buying it. Raven Rock is bigger than before and fortified, Fort Frostmoth is basically an old dungeon, Skaal village seems to have more buildings but doesn't cover as much land as the bloodmoon version did, Dwemer airship can be found inside a riekling camp, Thirsk meadhall when you first find it is a reikling camp but you can help the Nords invade it and restore it to its former glory. Castle Kaarstag is still present too, if you are basing your decision on nostalgia i'd buy it if i was you.
