Its not the size that counts, its what you do with it

Skyrim Tamriel Worldspace: 3808 x 3008 [ 119 x 94 TES4 size cells ] = 6.9km x 5.4km = 37.6 sq km = 14.5 sq miles
Oblivion Cyrodiil Worldspace: 4288 x 4128 [ 134 x 129 TES4 size cells ] = 7.7km x 7.4km = 57 sq km = 22 sq miles
Morrowind Vvardenfell World: 2688 x 2816 [ 84 x 88 TES4 size cells ] = 4.8km x 5km = 24 sq km = 9.3 sq miles
Fallout3 Wasteland Worldspace: 6304x6400 [ 197 x 200 TES4 size cells ] = 11.3km x 11.5km = 130 sq km = 50 sq miles
Fallout3 New Vegas WastelandNV: 4096x4128 [ 128 x 129 TES4 size cells ] = 7.3km x 7.4km = 54 sq km = 21 sq miles

In game, Skyrim seems huge to me.. Morrowind huge.. especially compared to the invislbly-fenced theme park that is Oblivion.. yet look at the numbers.

Did you feel like you were a little pc in a big, big world while playing Skyrim ?

Wasn't Morrowind cell size different from Oblivion and Skyrim (something like 4x the size)? At any rate, Skyrim gives a good impression of being a big and varied world. After 300 hrs on it, however, I'm starting to crave for new lands to explore

Where did you get those numbers? I've counted cells in Morrowind and Oblivion and did not get numbers resembling those. My results (based on cell sizes stated in the Construction Set readmes) were approximately 6 square miles for Vvardenfell and approximately 9 square miles for Cyrodiil.

I don't know about anybody else, but I would like to see a source for your figures before I accept your premise.

::EDIT:: And msxyz is correct: Oblivion cell dimensions were significantly larger than Morrowind cell dimensions.

I really didn't want the point of my post to become a debate about the "virtual" vs "actual" vs "intentional" vs whatever size of the worldspaces.. I was using the examples as a jumping-off point to ask
"Did you feel like you were a little pc in a big, big world while playing Skyrim ?".. because, subjectively, in-game, Skyrim seemed hella big to me

Oblivion does seem a tad bigger than Skyrim, but of course Skyrim has more locations.
