So while playing Dark Souls (and getting my ass kicked), and while waiting for Dragon's Crown, I want to pick up another JRPG for my DS. I've been looking around, and I think I've settled on two that I want.

Radiant Historia

and

Etrian Odyssey III

Both of them get excellent reviews, and seem fun. I've watched gameplay of both games. Radiant Historia seems like a throwback to the SNES Golden Age of RPGS, while Etrian Odyssey seems like a modern twist with heavily classic sensibilities.

I never played the Etrian Odyssey series, but Radiant Historia is possibly the best game I've played this year. I enjoyed it very much

It is a dungeon crawler with lots of mapping.

Etrian Odyssey are difficult (depending on who you ask) dungeon crawlers that are light on story. Radiant Historia is character/story-driven and not so difficult at all. The latter is probably my favorite game on the DS and I can't recommend it enough, though Etrian Odyssey is a great game as well and probably your better bet if you're looking for something closer to Dark Souls.

What is a JRPG?

Japanese RPG.

Japanese Role Playing Game. It's like..Final Fantasy, stuff like that.

I think I can only tolerate one game that has me tearing my hair out, thank you
