CK Keyboard Mapping?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:17 pm

Is there anyplace where we can adjust what is assigned to the keyboard/mouse etc?

I can find no .ini file anywhere, and since this program launches as a sub of Steam, etc, I can't even find where it is physically installed.

The way the mouse movement controls are mapped will NOT work with the type of mouse that I have, so I am sort of screwed on actually being able to create/modify placement of objects. If I could re-assign what functions do what, and what controls activation of those, IE, how to manipulate items etc, it would make working with this program a heck of a lot easier.

For clarification, I have a two button mouse, where there is NO third button. So, I am really constrained by how objects and viewports are manipulated with the requirement for the middle button being pressed. If I could reassign this to both buttons being pressed, or some keyboard key and mouse movement, it would greatly help.

I don't use this, I use a Logitech program that allows me to remap the buttons on my mouse. (the middle mouse button is broken). But you can use google to find other programs which will allow you to remap your mouse buttons and such.

Game and editor are where you have Steam installed:
{disk}\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim
There's also the SkyrimEditor.ini - which, unfortunately, won't help you much, as keyboard controls are not stored there.

Hmmm... seems like Bethesda forgot a really critical feature then.

I have logitech mouse, and use their software to remap buttons etc, but I can't find how to "assign" the a dual button click to the middle mouse "click" or to assign a keboard command since I can't find the mapped command list.

What exactly are you having problems with bannor9? I use a trackball [and have for many years] without the luxury of a scroll wheel. Only 4 button but I only two two buttons in the CK.

Repositioning the view port camera location. It requires a middle mouse button. The scroll wheel doesn't do anything inside the CK that I can see regardless. I have attempted to re-assign that scroll wheel to be the middle mouse button, but the Ck doesn't appear to recognize it.

Repositioning the view port camera location? Of what significance is the loss of that?

Ok, maybe I worded that wrong... Zoom in, and you are lost, the only way to scroll the viewport is with the middle mouse.

Is that different than the V key? [I don't mean to sound smart aleck'ee - It's just that I don't have a scroll wheel so can't compare]

EDIT***

Actually I do have a mouse with a scroll wheel, my Wacom mouse. I just tested the scroll wheel and it's the same as holding the V key. Pressing the middle mouse button pans the camera just like holding the space bar.

Hmmm... the scroll button on my mouse doesn't appear to work with the Ck, but I had no idea about the "V" key. Thank you.

This is what I meant in my original post that Bethesda needs to give us a map of what keys are assigned to what.
