Hi, I'm trying to complete the "Heartache by the number" quest where I have to kill the Van Graffs and Alice Mclafferty. I've done the first part, but every time I try to kill Alice the quest doesn't update. I've tried doing it in stealth, planting a grenade on her, and even just coming up to her and blowing her head off, but still nothing. Is this quest bugged? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

You might try doing it the other way... get into her safe, get the first piece of the puzzle; then go to the Van Graff's and break into their back room... and get the second piece. Then, go to the NCR... and Van Graff's are fragged to hell.

Umm.. Where do you go to tell on them? It tells me to go talk to that boss lady but when I speak to her there is no choice to speak to her about the quest. I have tried killing her but it doesn't do anything other then everyone being hostile.

You don't have to kill her, you can pick their each of their safes and get info. on a agreement to kill of Cassidy Caravans to get their contract. Then you can let the NCR out back West deal with them.

I'm having the same problem. No letters in the safes because I killed the Van Graffs after they had me lure Cass to the Silver Spur. Now when all the other sidequests and freequests are done in HBTN I can't end it. I declined to rob the Gun Runners. Is that the problem?

This might be a stupid question, but is Cass with you when you kill her?

talk to ranger at Mojave Outpost - although Alice never leaves her desk so I guess the wheels of justice move very slowly in NCR
