laptop touch pad problem

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 3:47 am

I Installed Skyrim onto my laptop last night. I was playing and i was having problems with the touch pad. when i would press something on the keyboard, such as wasd to move, the touch pad would lock up. 50% of the time it locked up entirely and I couldn't turn, or the other 50% it locked for a couple seconds and then let me turn. I am wondering if this is a problem with the laptop, or maybe the game or how it is connecting with my laptop? I am planning on getting a usb mouse soon but I really want to play on master and am just afraid of it because this become a very big disability in a fight. Would love any help with this, thanks!

I'm not sure. I actually play with my controller plugged in and it works pretty great. It lets me bypass the faulty UI and problems such as yours.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but it's a friendly suggestion maybe you'd dig it.

meh i don't really care for a controller, so i will end up getting a usb mouse, or an adapter soon, but don't really feel like it right now lol. the problem is by no means game breaking, but it makes fights really annoying especially if i try to kite, or am just fighting a dragon, oh god dragon fights are so much harder since i cant run, cast, and turn/aim all at the same time.

While I don't have a way to "fix" the touchpad on your laptop, or even anything to suggest, I can say that I hate the touch pad on mine so much that I have it turned off. COMPLETELY. And, yes, having it can cause problems with games. My choice is a nice wireless (USB) optical mouse. Can use it almost anywhere :)

Therefore, my recommendation is to go a head and spend 20 bucks or so and get a USB wireless optical mouse for the laptop, and disable the touch pad.

Peace

Most touchpads have a feature that disables the touchpad temporarily after a key press; it's designed to prevent accentially hitting the touchpad when typing.

In your touchpad settings, look for something called TouchCheck or Palmcheck and disable it.
