A lot of mods w scripts slow Skyrim down?

my old PC, it seemed the more mods i added that had a lot of scripts, the more bogged down the game became. like i could almost sense when it would check scripts. i'm getting a new PC, pretty good i hope (couple grand) and wondering if new decently powered rigs can handle lots of script mods.

What do you mean by "bogged down"? Generally scripts won't affect framerate, but "heavy" scripts will slow down other scripts.

That sounds like you have one that's gone off the rails. You'll probably want to check your Papyrus logs and see if anything there is filling them up with garbage.

A symptom like that comes up, for example, if you uninstalled the Sounds of Skyrim - Civilization mod. At first it's not a big deal, but within minutes you're dealing with pauses lasting several seconds, saves taking EONS to process, and eventually the game will crash. The reason for this is that it's bloating the save and dumping garbage into the script stack. But ONLY if you uninstall it.

It's possible for a live script to do the same thing if it's badly written. This isn't Oblivion or Fallout anymore where it would take a huge effort to write a poisonous script. One careless move in even a simple script can have drastic consequences. It's like playing Morrowind all over again with modern graphics.
