I love my new X-box 360...

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:46 am

I'm a fan of my 360. I have many pleasant memories of that old thing. I bought one when they came out, and I remember playing terrible games like Perfect Dark Zero, and funny ones like Amped 3.
The console has come a long way, despite being the same console, lol.

Most people don't really think about how very old it is. When I bought my 360, the All-In-Wonder was one of the better graphics cards out there. Was it, what, six years ago? I've two degrees since then and started a new career.

I mean the layout. The navigation is much better on the PS3. When I went to use it on the 360 I didn't like it at all.

Yep. The fact that it automatically starts a TV show before you choose an episode really gets on my nerves.

Eh, I don't even know if that still happens with the latest models (or even the models from the past 2 years). I've never seen it happen, only time I see it is with the original generation. We still have a first gen 360, and it hasn't red ringed yet, though the disk reader is broken.

Never been interested in Star Trek so...

But I still prefer PS3 over Xbox 360. It has a very small amount of exclusives that I like.. From all I can think of the only Exclusives I like is the Fable series..

By person I assume you mean me? Spoiler tags are in place so people do not have to scroll through needless space in my post. So I put the spoiler tags there because I'm a nice guy or considerate or whatever I guess.

The Netflix app is terrible on the 360.

Yeah, don't use it. Kills your bandwidth. Unless you can afford to of course.

Over here Telecom/isps are the television companies. So.. they trying to not let us use Netflix.

That's funny, I've had my 360 for about 5 years and no RROD. It's really not a probelm anymore as long as you have a newer system.

Exclusives wise they have about the same, it just comes down to personal preference. Plus any Bethesda game is almost guaranteed to be better on the 360. Also play the Mass Effect series without being able to play the first is likely the most idiotic thing you can do.

Yeah, I much prefer the PS3 exclusives, free online play, better Netflix app since I use it quite often, and Blu ray. To each his/her own though. I have a 360 as well. Use to have a Wii, but I sold it. Really want to play Skyward Sword though. It's the only console Zelda I haven't had the honor of playing.

Sorry but I am going to get that game---it's one of my favorite 360 games  .

In other news I downloaded Duke Nukem 3D (it's waaaaaaaaaaaaay better then the Total Meltdown version on the PS1) and Soul Calibur 1, It almost brought to tears as memories came flooding back. It's sad that they took out the Edge Master Mode but at least it has all the stuff is there like the Art Gallery (I could listen to the song that plays in it for hours).

What, its true. Not playing the first game is a disservice to the series as a whole.

You should also buy KOTOR I, KOTOR II, and Jade Empire. All original Xbox games that work on the 360.

"Bayonetta".

Probably the greates new IP in recent history.

Not everyone's cup of tea but you'd be hard pressed to find another game that gives you the same level of character control, depth of game play, graphics, sound and story as this one.

"Rage" could have been a better experience but looks absolutely stunning (and for the twenty bucks you can snap this up for nowadays it's worth the money).

I'll not overload you with game suggestions as you already have tons of good ones.

Oh yeah. Also you should get "Skyrim" for the 360. I'm told that it's supposed to look and play better on the PC but once you've played it on the 360 in HD with an LED display you'll understand why some people find that statement so hard to believe (which doesn't mean it's not right. Wouldn't want to upset anyone)

Yeah my original clunky white xbox lasted like 5 years, got a RROD cause I played Black Ops so much.
360's in my experience really destroy discs fast, for me the hologram around the center of the discs ring tends to chip and every 360 I've ever owned scratches discs up like nothing else.

Game wise the only 2 games for the 360 I've liked in the past 6 months are Batman: Arkham City (better to play Arkham Asylum first but not really necissary although a lot of the plot won't make alot of sense unless you look up a spoiler)
The other game is Dark Souls but I wouldn't recommend any multiplayer games on 360, Xbox Live is a rip off. GTA4 was mentioned I've tested multiplayer on Live with it a couple different ways what happens is people from other countrys get some sort of messed up connection bonus on Live, in races on that game I've gotten my foriegn friends and randoms i've encountered in a lot of games to line up next to me same exact cars and have a drag race they sort of blink like its a lag thing and have a higher top speed among other things.
Plus at what gold membership is priced at you can basically buy a new release every year instead, I had a gold membership for like 4-5 years straight waste of money in my opinion.

This. Absolutely this. I would also recommend Arx Fatalis and Morrowind to the list of decent backwords compatible Xbox RPGs. (Both of them are better on PC though)

What exactly do you mean? I use Netflix for about 2-3 hours a day on my 360 (don't have cable). There's a 250gb monthly cap on my DSL, you wouldn't think I would hit that would you?

Also for some reason when I watch Netflix on my 360 it'll show 3 bars on the signal but not HD (unless maybe the content I watch isn't in HD, but I would think most things are) whereas when I used Hulu it would always be in HD.

I wish I could sort of monitor my bandwidth usage, but I'm not sure if there's an option for that anywhere through my internet provider.

Anywho, yeah I use my 360 as much for Netflix and media as I do for games and I enjoy it.

Also for XBLA games, I recommend Trials Evolution. It's a blast. Frustrating, but addicting, and the multiplayer is awesome. Torchlight is a good one too, and in two weeks Minecraft should be pretty cool.

To each his own I guess, I thought 1 slightly edged out 3 and then 2 was great but still a bit behind. My point was though, that the series is all about the epic saga that your character goes on. The choices you make and people you meet and how they all culminate in the end.

Yeah I didn't like Mass Effect 1 either, so I never even bothered to try 2 until January of this year. I loved 2, so before 3 came out I bought and downloaded ME1 on Xbox Live...Tried it again...Hated it. It's so slow and clunky compared to 2. So much walking or driving around on planets and so little happening. 2 and 3 were like action fests, and the story was good. 1 was dry and boring and there was very little fighting in the first 3 hours I played so I quit and have no desire to try again. Waste of $20 really, considering I can't give it away or sell it since I got the digital version.

I absolutely despise Mass Effect 2. I loved 1 to death. I didn't touch 3 because of my hatred of 2 (and because of EA). 2 was just too bland and the story was okay but the final boss was terrible.

I preordered one of the original 4GB Xbox's and never had a problem.Gave it to a friend and bought an "Elite Edition" one still no problem after about 4 years and a million cigarettes later..When i run into my friend he says the old one still works fine.

The RROD mostly happens because of overheating.Install any game that you are going to play for extended periods of time onto the hard drive.Set your system up so that all the air intakes are open.I have mine up on a block so that air can flow into all parts and it still gets hot where all the cables are connected.Feel around the vents after an hour or two of play and if it seems unduly hot then turn it off for awhile. The sun will rise tommorow if you have to interrupt a gaming session to let the system cool down.

As for Netflix on Xbox my only complaint is that you have to search movies by title and can't do so by Genre,Actors,or Director. For shows with multiple episodes you just pause..tap down with the stick..then tap to the right.Takes about 3 seconds.
