More lively Inns?

I noticed that Inns always have this continuous awkward silence (unless there's a bard). Is it possible to make a mod that adds background pvssyr like you would hear in Witcher 2?

Definitely should be! You'd just need a sound file and some way to trigger it in the inn. (An activator or a script, back in Morrowind, but, of course, we'll have to see what Skyrim's CK will look like.) Certainly, you could dig up or make an appropriate sound file now, I would think, while we're waiting for the CK to be released, and then it's just a matter of working out how to integrate it into the game.

If you do make this, I'll download it. I agree with you, the inns sound almost creepily quiet.

Edit: CK, for Skyrim, not CS.

Lol. I walked into the Companions' mead hall just as everyone was sitting at the table. Silently. Awkardly staring. There was an amazing mod for morrowind that i think is sort of what they should be like. It's on my top list of mods I look forward to for Skyrim, along with other little touches like 'actors in charge' and 'kyoma's journal mod.' The huge impressive conversions are neat, but I find that the little mods are always the ones I can't live without. Anyway, I digress. I definitely would like to see more life in the inns.

Here are some of the things I would like to see.

- In the mornings maybe have the fire in most ins just smouldering with no flames and the light dimmed so that it feels like people went to bed after a night and the fire burnt out then have it relight about noon (maybe manage to script an npc to do it).
- Most of the inns need more rooms. At the moment they are more bars with an extra room for sleeping, not many maybe but at least about 5 or so per inn.
- Somewhere next to inns for horses to be "tied to" or stabled.
- Like the fire have the lights dimmed or candles off in the morning.
- Maybe have the occasional drunk asleep on the floor if possible. (note highly occasional).

one other thing (though this is more general) after about 2 days or so have items set to reposition themselves to their intended places. I still really find it odd that all those plates and cups I knocked over one day are still scattered all over floor. Especially in a place that seems to have someone looking after it.

To be honest some of those suggestions could be implemented on a larger scale. (for instance have most fires go out around 4 am and relight in the evening). Again some would have to be exempt.

I feel the inns just need more fluff npc's to dance and clap when the bard gets going, a little background pvssyr and overall "DOING STUFF" in the Inns. this Nord Architecture in the South regions is awkward since there is so much Space above ground level thats not being used.

There were some mods that did this for both Morrowind and Oblivion. I even made a medieval techno club for Morrowind, but one thing that was a problem for both mine and the others was that, if somebody was so inclined to go through and waste all the patrons, the background sound just kept on playing. LOL. So everybody is dead but it still sounded so lively!

There was one EXCELLENT lively bar released for Morrowind. Off the top of my head I can't tell you who made it or what it was called, but man it was great! Had dancers, lively sounding atmosphere, people animated to drink their mugs. I had never seen anything so detailed and wonderful at the time. Anyone recall what mod that was? I need to get the files off my Alienware-now-an-expensive-paperweight's hard drives one of these days.

Ah yes. That Morrowind mod added more people as well though didn't it? Like people dancing, playing instruments and such?

I'd love more lively inns as well. But I fear they're all too small to ever really feel truely lively. But doing something with the space available would be great.
With a good animator we could have people arm wrestling in a corner, people singing along with the bard, people lifting their glasses etc. :)

Err... Are you talking about that really cool one that was situated somewhere in Caldera? I can't remember the name of it for the life of me... Had dancing, drunks making out, bar wenches in authentic outfits, etc...

Hm. Not sure, but that doesn't sound familiar.

I can't remember where it was exactly, but from memory it seems to me it was definitely outside of a city. Might've been somewhere near the... name escapes me... Imperial/Telvanni hybrid city? I can't access the files right now as they are still inside my old computer.

Only one that comes to mind is the "Clothiers of Vvardenfell" mod which added in a tavern called "The Wailing Wench" I believe. It was situated at the back end of Caldera and it had people dancing around to a relatively catchy tune, also known as "Whiskey for breakfast."

Yes! The Wailing Wench! That pub was the best one ever created in Elder Scrolls! I laughed so hard at the drunken Orc staggering along amongst the other fine guests. We need that for Skyrim too, because some really neat foundations are already in place; like bards and drunks. Yay!
