Morrowind Modders, Anyone left?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 3:19 pm

A shame that AlienSlof is not around :( She made so many cool Kittys. But for some reason the Khajiit in Skyrim looks like her Snow Leopard. :)
I wish I could protect AS from the a$$hats that keep bringing her down. I'd be her shining knight, and run 'em through with my not-very-sharp Kit Rae claymore!

But I always love her stuff. My Boys need to look as pretty as my girls, and she's one of the few ones who will do that.
Yes and amen! Even though Oblivion got spat on a lot, I absolutely loved it and it was her mods that really helped me enjoy it so much. Many others helped too of course! I had a couple hundred mods at least. But the eye candy she brings to the game is pretty much my favorite. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Geiger armor. My warrior was so smexy! M'm M'm Good!

I've been trying to tempt her with mod ideas. She loves playing (and modding for) archers and I wouldn't be surprised if she does something with fletching.
Tempt her more: Tell her Skyrim4Kids - with kids! :P

Yep, plenty of Morrowind modders around. Considering Tamriel Rebuilt is pretty far along, Skyrim: Home of the Nords is also being worked on, and Province: Cyrodiil is just starting off, I think Morrowind modding will be around a while longer; especially if one of the 2 or 3 MW engine rewrites gets completed and brings the game into the 21st century. Including the shader system(voodoo/gem) which is being worked on and the fact that all the models and textures are being/have been replaced with much better looking ones, I think its not long now before MW rivals any other game out there.
Oh, and I am the guy making models(specifically Ayleid ones) for Project: Cyrodiil. Actually need to finish working on a texture at the moment for them.

If the engine rewrites fail to get done for some reason, I think I will give up on it though. Without them, MW will certainly be left behind.

I'm still around, but I haven't been doing much modding here lately: just a quick companion for Morrowind recently and a bug fix for another one. I'd like to do a companion mod for Skyrim, but I'm not sure how to get around the need for it to be voiced. One thing I liked at Morrowind was that having a bunch of text was considered a good thing. :whistling:

Yea, Project Aedra and OpenMW are the two ones I can think of. I think there is a third, but that may have stalled out.

OpenMW's aim is to recreate the MW engine exactly as it is plus some improvements and then start adding things in. Project Aedra's aim is to make the engine multiplayer.
Combined with the shader engine(plus other things that will be added in to it) that is being made, this stuff will bring the game into the 21st century.

Not really interested in multiplayer, so looks like OpenMW is the one I need to start following. I think that I would actually return to some of my Morrowind modding projects if that comes to fruition.

Elric's site is in a bad way? I haven't been there in ages, but that svcks. I always liked it back in the Morrowind days.

After trying to track down my own mods a few months back, it looks like PES and Nexus are the only two places that are still going *and* still have my mods, so I figured I'd just stick with those. I did add some retexture mods for Oblivion to Nexus only though, so maybe I'll stick to that? I dunno. Haven't really thought about it that much I guess.

EDIT: I think I'll stick to the whatever is generally most used, to avoid confusion and to minimize the number of sites I need to keep track of that have my mods. In Morrowind, we ended up having 100s of fan sites and it just got to be too much of a mess. That and most of them disappeared within a year or two of going up anyway, or ended up becoming unattended and left to rot.

hmm, it's always going down, or getting bugs. Still usable, ofc.

I will probably upload a lot of my junk to a temp place, that is when and if I have the time to do something. I probably won't finish anything, like what happened when I modded Morrowind. :)

LOL. Yeah. I have like four dozen WIPs in my Morrowind folder still. I think I released maybe half a dozen or so, then collaborated on a few others that weren't mine.

I have ADD kinda bad. :P

I found my releases still up, but it looks like source isn't on my current or previous harddrive (or in backup directories on my release site :( I knew I should have put it there.) Will have to see if the older box can still start, or if the drive is even still good. Either way I'll get the MW stuff to Nexus.

I'm SO glad I checked out the forums tonight! I can't believe how many familiar MW modder names I'm seeing in here. (I was known as PackRatPat or PRP back in the day, cuz I was crazy about those MW rats!) I made tons of mods for myself but only submitted a couple. (An underground siltstrider home and a white wizard race which was a Gandalf/Nord kinda thing - lol. Might work out better in Skyrim - wink) Neither of which were major feats of talent, but WERE great fun to make. I think I spent as much time trying out submitted mods, trolling thru the forum for inspiration and learning the CS as I did playing the game. Ahhh good times - good times.

I modded some for Oblivion, FO and FOV, but didn't submit much of anything. But there is something about Skyrim that's making me CRAZY to get my hands on the CS!!! And now that Skyrim has the attention of so many of the Morrowind Modding ROCK STARS I really think we all have great fun ahead of us!

Wolflore, GHF, and PES like I've done in the past provided I get anything else done that I feel comfortable releasing.

*Voice from an empty void* Of course I'm here ;) Skyrim seems to actually be a worthy successor of MW ^^ I'm very excited for the modding capabilities.

I hope we get a nice set of tools to export and import custom mehses, one can always dream ^^

Now with my ex girlfriend out of the way I can give this more focus ;) Yay for ex girlfriends! haha.

EDIT:
OHOHOH!!!

Soo many faces in here that I know and have come to "love" during all these years. I get all nostalgic, I havn't had you in my mind for a while, but I have really missed you guys!!!
Cheers to MW modders! (drinking mead).

Got worse for me, I got married in 2009

Skyrim feels pretty cool, like Wizards Islands remix :obliviongate:

Is the toolset out already?

Cheers to JB. , Lady Eternity, DragoonWraith!

I started modding for Morrowind. Morrowind was the first game I ever released stuff to the public for. That was in 2005. I went on to mod Civilization 4 and Oblivion.

Although I'm not particularly proud of the earlier work I attempted for Morrowind, I'm definitely still around! I've learned quite a bit between then and now, but I'll probably just stick to texture work when it comes to public releases. Good to see some of the other old faces!
