Need BSA Extractor

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 10:20 pm

I've tried BSAcommander, didn't work at all.
I've tried using OBMM, it gives me a "System Out Of Memory" error. Occasionally, it will extract one file, but it will be faulty (0kb .DDS)
I tried FOMM, but since I don't have Fallout, I couldn't provide it with a directory to even get the damn thing operational.

Is there a BSA extractor anywhere that will just flat-out work? I don't need to repack so I'm not concerned about file headers - I just want to have valid game files to work with again, so I can get a sense of what I need to do as far as texture mapping goes.

Anyone out there who can help me out on this?

Was also looking for one that could do the trick. Got a great tip on this tool that worked great: http://sites.google.com/site/ronsworkspace/GameUtilities/fallout3

Use BSA Commander, hex edit the BSA file first and change byte 5 from a 68 to 67:

Fallout Mod Manager works for me, only for extraction though, but that is what you're looking for.

If you need to pack BSAs you can use the copy-task of http://obge.paradice-insight.us/wiki/NIFopt_%28GUI%29. I verified it works repacking all standard BSAs.

Lady N, it works fine. I just tried it and opened up and extracted all of the meshes. Keep in touch, this is going to be a steep learning curve for us hard core modders. Sleepless nights, worry, oh my.

I have been noticing that as my character passes by citizens in the towns that when they do their idle dialogue there is a pause (half second at times).

My thinking was that the voices BSA must be extracting. I look it is 1.35 gb. I extract and it is 1.35 - repackaging it is 1.35 ... so that is not the cause.

the fallout new vegas mod manager will work for this FNMM
how well it works i dont know, some of my team are currently having to use that currently to mod certain aspects of the game...
other than that we are waiting on proper "official" tools for better results or tweaking for the realism/conversion mod we are working on.
