New patch.. where did my save game go?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:28 pm

I don't know if this is the right area to post this, i'm sorry if it isn't.

Just got home from school, popped Skyrim into the ps3, downloaded the new patch. I clicked "continue" to continue playing on my level 42 character, but instead i ended up on an earlier level 20 save of the same character. Where did my higher level save go? I really hope it isn't permanently gone... Any advice?

Edit: The save is not on the "Load" menu. Doesn't look like its on the ps3 harddrive either. I can't seem to find any of the autosaves anywhere either.

Try loading a specific file instead of clicking "continue". Be careful not to overwrite anything with the current file you're playing with the level 20. It's probably just an autosave bug.

Thanks for the answer. This was the first thing I tried, but when I clicked on "Load" the only save there was my old level 20 one.
All my autosaves are gone. I checked my ps3 harddrive, and the only save left is the level 20 one.. I have no idea how this could happen...

I don't think there's any way to get them back.

You should never rely on autosaves because things like this happen, just make sure that you make plenty of manual saves in the future.

Oh I know that, which is why I always saved manually before I quit playing for the day. Thats exactly what I did last night too, so thats why im surprised its gone now.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Or is my save lost forever?

I doubt I will be making another character if this one is lost...

I have a feeling it's gone. Do you have any other Logins you use on there? I know each log in name saves a different file, like my wife has her separate Skyrim games under her account and mine are sperate as well. You could have been under a different accountby accident?

Yeah, I know that. But I only use one login. Plus my same character was still there (lower level, like i explained. My account is 42, the one still there is 20 or so). My main save just disappeared randomly, along with all the autosaves. Now i'm pretty much just trying to find out if there is a way I can get them back, like there is for the PC. No luck so far.. Looks like my Skyrim career is over.. :/
