PATCH IS OUT!

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:25 pm

Are people with issues starting a new game or not? Maybe you need to start a new game. I know patches are meant to be save game compatible, but sometimes if the issue is already present, you need to start again as its not fixable

I'm just starting a new game now, but I wont get far passed the cart bit because it's 6:20am here and I am now exhausted and need rest before trying to see further if this game is going to work the way it's supposed to *sigh*

You can start a new character and everything will be just dandy. Until that save starts creeping toward double digits, then it begins. I tried.

First you said it was a week in game now it's a month? Oh and by the way the whole resting for a week thing only made my lag worse...
A lot of objects take 7 days or less (or should take 7 days or less as compared with 360 or pc versions). Some cells require a month. Depending on how you've played the game, you may have a lot of those cells that require the longer wait time.

If it takes more than a month of in-game time, then that means the patch isn't fixing your problem.

If it doesn't work for you, then you've only lost a little bit of time, hopefully it works though.

At the very least they tried and they did it quickly, so I guess I'll stop joining in the angry idle threats. At least it's now playable, but I think I noticed a change in the graphics too (although it might be because I was looking for one, I can't tell). A lot of games these days are released horribly buggy though, it's not easy to pick up on all of the bugs until you've had a lot of people test it in a lot of different ways, especially in a game this huge.
And i have never come across a game that is so broken that you cant even play it through.
I really wonder why some of yo keep defending them and even sometimes even awarding them by buying another copy for a different platform instead of demanding your money back.
This bug will probably never ever be fixed based on how this company acted in past with fallout which had very similar issues.

And just having a few people playing this game beyond a few hours would have revealed this bug.

Downloaded the patch? I'm gonna assume yes, was it laggy before the patch?

I'm just waiting for the patch to come out here in NA so when it does i'll post my findings. BTW my file size is over 11mb and 98 hours, so I should be able to fully test the patch.

So, should I download the new patch if I'm yet to experience any lag?

I'm from the philippines and we too are experiencing the framerate drops that everyone keeps talking about.. :(( Still waiting for the patch... Maybe before we download the patch we should delete the game data and do a fresh installation. Maybe It'll help :D

I did, and I wasn't really experiencing any lag. But my save file was still relatively small (5.2mb). My save file fell to 4.5mb as soon as I installed the patch and my game is still running well.

Nothing improved ...........[censored] you Bethesda ......

Ugly flickering shadows ugly textures and terrible framerate is still there !...

I am just sick of hoping for better as far as this pile of **** game is concerned.

Please do not make more games for PS3 as the owners deserve better.

Bye

That's what I'm planning to do. I'm going to put my save file on a flash drive then delete everything Skyrim related off my harddrive then go into the PS3 safe mode rebuild my database, re-install the game then download the 1.01 patch then not touch the game till patch 1.02 comes out. I won't take any chances this will be a clean test with my 11mb file.

Yes I′ve downloaded the patch. I′m playing on my second character right now (I′ve had to stop playing my first character, 12 MB and the lag kicked in after a few minutes) and there was barely any lag before the patch.

...Hum. Chances are this patch doesnt fix anything, what it might actually do is reduce save file size to limit the problem... Thing is the problem is still there and files still get too big. If thats the case then Bethesda are just taking the p*ss at this point.

Well my gameplay is running fine right now if a patch comes up i may not download it until i start experiancing serious issues. It is however extremely dissappointing to hear about these issues i would have thought for sure after the FO crisis these issues would have been resolved. sad times.

As I've said in other threads, try resting in-game for a month's time. From what I'm led to understand, that's the maximum amount of time any cells may wait before refreshing

If someone could confirm this works or does not, that would be much appreciated since we haven't gotten the patch yet and I'm at work anyways.

Activision making Call Of Duty every year, EA releasing the same football game, day 1 DLC. All we have is like bethesda, valve, and blizzard holding it down for the hardcoe.
You realise of course that Activision and Blizzard are the same company?

My shadows are much improved, they don't flicker and the edges are not so blocky. And my textures look exactly the same. And the framerate problem still exists but is much better.

Someone already stated that the GPU is weak on the PS3. This doesn't explain how Square-Enix, svckerpunch, Bioware, and Naughtydog are able to release video games on the PS3 and they never crash. Take FF13 as an exemple, this game has graphics way superior than Skyrim and doesn't require to be installed on the consoles. The game can be considered huge, not everyone like it as a Final Fantasy, but at least we gotta give Square Enix some credits for making this game work with no crashes or lags on the PS3. (At least the slim ones because I heard it broke some of the fat PS3s in the past.)

The CPU isnt weak on the PS3 both 360 and PS3 have crap CPU compared to a PC. Only PC has a CPU thats far superior to the PS3. If you compare a 360 exclusive to the PS3 one you will see a PS3 one looks better, in my opinion, than the 360. But thats not saying the 360 one looks like crap but you cant compare the multiplatform titles because it will always run better on the 360 because most if not all make it first on the 360 than later translate it to the PS3

All I have to say is that I never experienced this pre-patch:

http://f.cl.ly/items/1n3f051z1i372s3W3N0r/photo-1.JPG

That's supposed to be grass... looks more like sand. I can't guarantee it's patch-related obviously, but it's strange that the first time I ever see that problem would be 5 minutes after installing it.

If its helpful that happens very rarely on the xbox version. I have always assumed it was related to the texture issues on that version

And that they are actually using two development teams to make the Call of Duty series (which is why every other game looks similar to the one two years before).
