possible crash fix?

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 7:05 am

Like alot of people ive been having problems with skyrim freezing and hard crashing. tryed everything and nothing has worked.

Found a comment on another forum about down clocking your graphics card. lo and behold it worked a treat for me.

i always hard crashed in the opening in the carts or charecter creation, and at the 1st dragon fight. this time it sailed through them. and skyrim is running totaly standerd with no tweeks applied.

i have a msi 6950. i down clocked it in amd vision engine to lowest settings. stil getting a solid 40 to 50 fps.

give it a try, i realy hope this is the fix alot of people have been looking for.

ps this has got to be the stupidest thing i ever had to do to get a game working lolz

system specs
cpu amd 965 black
gpu msi 6950
4gb ddr3
OS windows 7 64 bit

Turning down the frequency at which the CPU or GPU runs to lower performance to save power and produce less heat. A lot of laptops do this now dynamically.

This has allowed me to play for two hours straight when previously I couldn't play for more than five minutes. I mean sprinting through open world and everything, thank you so much man! Got this the day it was released and have spent most of my free time trying to get it to work. I'm glad I kept trying instead of forfeiting to the wait for a patch.

Well glad this has worked for people. i got home today started my pc and i kept crashing on boot up, must be to do with the down clock and had to uninstall catalyst in the end. maybe i down clocked so much it was crashing on boot? anyway will try again but not down clock so much this time.
let me know if this keeps working for people, i realy hope so. :)

And dont thank me i found this on another comment and gave it a try.

same here i spent all weekend trying to get this to work. glad i kept at it now.
