I've installed the GECK...but?

Post » Wed Dec 22, 2010 11:42 am

I'm sorry if this has been asked befor...but could not find an answer in this form.

In have the geck..... ssce5432.dll..and..Geck Application(.exe) files loaded in the Fallout New Vegas folder with all the other .dll files.
I have read and looked at some tutorials videos, but when I open up the geck I am missing something, and not sure what to do.

In the cell view in has World View..interiors, but under that in the EditorID nothing is listed, as I have seen in the tutorials.

I'm lost, and can find no help as of yet, and I've spent a hour looking. Thick headed as I am, am I missing something so very simple as to get something in this EditorID so I can learn how to use this GECK?

Thank you for any help you may give me.

When you open the Geck, you can start working on a whole new game from scratch...

...or you can use File/Data and check the box next to FalloutNV.esm to load it.

Once you saved your changes to a new esp, you need to use the "Set as Active File" button to continue working on that mod later.

I have the same problem: Cell View is empty. In the Data window I double clicked on FalloutNV.esm, clicked on OK, and saved it to test1.esp. No cells are listed in the Cell View window. When I go back to the Data window, FalloutNV.esm is not checked and test1.esp is checked and set to active. I tried exiting GECK and reloading it. With test1.esp set as the active file, the Cell View is still empty as is the data side of the Object Window.

The current version of the New Vegas GECK downloaded today, 4/29/2011, is installed in the steam "fallout new vegas" directory.

Thanks

Open the data window hit the check box for falloutNV esm and, click OK, wait for it to load. ESM's do not show as active if you click the "active button". Loading may take a minute or two but, once it finishes you'll see the cells and all of the game assets.

Now save your "New Mod". Close GECK and, relaunch it. Set your "New Mod" as the "Active Mod" and, Hit OK.

You'll be good to go then.

hope this helps

Thanks for your help, but it did not work.

I load GECK. The status panel is empty. I open the Data window. Both DeadMoney.esm and ClassicPack.esm are already checked. I double click on FalloutNV.esm to check it. I click on OK. The Data Window closes and the status line says something but before I can read it, it changes to Done (fast system I guess). I waited at least 15 minutes and still the Cell View window is empty.

Did you update your geck since the New Vegas 1.3 patch on... Monday? The new patch broke the GECK, causing it to do exactly what your describing. But they released a patch for it, which you can find at the link below. Install that and it should work once again.

EDIT: Link fixed.

True. I hate how they don't have it updated some places, and it's hard to find the right one... I fixed the link in my previous post to the correct one, and just incase here it is again.
