How to fix Lighting, Havok and Rendering Issues

Post » Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:09 pm

Hello everyone.

Like everyone else I have been having problems with these issues and here is a fix.

I don't have a clue if anyone else thought this, but I have not been doing a lot of GECK modding.
Having read a few topics that said moving stuff out of mulibounds fixed rendering I looked for a
command in the GECK ini. I found the command to disable multibounds and disabled it.

After, everything worked!

What you have to do is find your GECKCustom.ini and change bUseMultibounds=1 to bUseMultibounds=0

I have known this for a week, but I have been pretty busy so I have not had the chance to post.

Thanks.

It works. I made the change, launched the GECK and went straight to a cell I knew was blocked. Benny's floor. I had to tweak some view settings but everything was now visible.
Thanks.

I am in agreement with Cev and Maix thank you sooooooo much for this :foodndrink: I owe you one.

Not to take away from your awesome discovery but I think the devs should of brought this to light for us :stare:

Thanks for finding this.
I tried this setting short after the release of GECK but got punked by Steam which had a bad habit to overwrite the ini files (including the GECK ones). I hope this has now stopped.
But I still keep a backup of all my working ini's just to make sure.

FYI I have requested the admins to add this and several other points to the pinned FAQ thread here, "How to install the New Vegas G.E.C.K.". Please take a look. This seemed like the best place for it. If you have any comments on better phrasing or additional items, the admin responded very quickly to my request.

I've navigated to where the GECKCustom.ini file should be, but all I can find is GECKPref.ini. Can someone help me please? =(

Never mind, after closing the GECK and restarting the computer it's appeared.

Works like a charm. Thank you very much! :)

@ROMOAS
Open you GeckCustom.ini then press Ctrl+F then in the search box, type bUseMultibounds
That should help you find it faster.

@RegentEagle
Thanks so much for this, I hated the havok/light problem!

Hey, I just saw this, not sure how it took me 6 months to catch up. Dx I have been editing complex interior cells for a while without it. I just tried it, and it fixed everything but the lighting. The odd thing is, I loaded into the Tops Casino floor first, and I could move lights there in realtime and they updated, but then I go to my cell, and those lights are still broken. Does anyone know why this happens and if I can fix it? Everything else works. It loads all interiors fully (like the tops), and mainly Havok!!! But not lighting. :/

Thanks for any help.
Gunmaster95

EDIT: Well, it appears the lighting is only fixed in the TOPSCasino cell. I tried numerous other vanilla cells and the lighting is still broken in all of those as well... :/
