[WIP]-Char rebuilder

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 9:20 am

I'm looking at making a doohickey with a modified version of the rebuilder script that fires outside of Goodsprings when you first leave the area.

I could use suggestions on how to fairly implement it into the game so it's not TOTALLY 'cheaty'...

Suggestions I've had so far:

-Endpoint of a dungeon crawl of an old research building similar to the 'mind vacation' business in the movie Total Recall, at the end you can opt to use the machine to rewrite your past life, but it breaks down afterward, or has only enough juice for 1 to 3 uses. (I LIKE this)

Anyone got alternate suggestions? Because I'm like, really really liking the suggestion I got there...I may even have some interior cells and statics available from an old mod of mine that will turn the trick handily, IF someone can tell me how to import an interior cel from Fallout 3 to NV.??

I need some help from the community.

There are perks (called 'ability perks') that will crash the game if you remove them normally via a script using player.removeperk. To remove them, you have to use a token with a separate script on it.

I need a list of these perks, but am not sure what all perks would fall into this category, so if someone can give me an exhaustive list of these, that would be great.

I'd also like to see a list of those ability perks from the various perk packs out there.

See, what I have to do is create a script (or several) that progressively applies player.removeperk from the player, AND for 'ability' perks I have to fire off a token into their inventory that then runs ANOTHER script to remove THOSE/THAT perk(s).

Once that is done, I will be able to effectively revert ANY level character to level 0, while keeping a record of their experience, which I can then re-apply, causing them to level up through the levels from scratch, WITHOUT having a bunch of perks on top of the new ones.

This is a major undertaking, and I really really would appreciate the help.

An idea I've had about something similar.... is a more Successful Cloning Vault than what happened with the Garrys?

Although you'd need to scavenge tech from other nearby vaults and settlements to get the facility online!!

Its basicly... a Doctor variant of a Mr Handy, and several stasis pods filled with npcs! Using the get player face, and get race commands, you could match the player's character onto one of these NPC's instasis thus cloning a backup of your main character, then you can use the geneprojector to create a new body from scratch. Have about 3 or 4 stasis tubes, 5 if you count the one the player climbs into, so that'd be 4 characters you can have the Autodoctor switch you between!

For more fun with the Match Race, Match Face commands, the autodoc could also give you a "weapon" that stores data from an npc, so once you come back to him, you could change your character into a copy of that Npc!

Interesting idea...sort of a Paranoia twist to the game...player 'dies' and is shunted to a new body (sans equipment) instead of it being game over. (If playerhealth < 2%, make player invul, play sound/music/screen fx, move player to VR pod, open pod, have silly robot come up and tell player he was just vaporized and his clone has been activated).

ahh..Paranoia! WE LOVE THE COMPUTER!
