I have FIXED Geck Interior Render Issue

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 5:40 am

So since the launch of Fallout New Vegas Geck we have always had that one problem that stopped us being able to actually make interiors for our mods.

It has been eating away at me for months and now finally after a week of trial and error (and about 100 crashes)
I changed 10 lines a day and then it suddenly worked... so then it was just trial and error after then...
I finally found the fix and can confirm it works!

Vault3a all fully rendered after using my fix

The fix is actually simple!

Load up GeckCustom.ini located in your documents/my games/FalloutNV

and find the line "bUseMultibounds=1"
Change that "1" to a "0"
so it should say
"bUseMultibounds=0"

Save and fire up the geck...

And it works.

Anything about script writing syntax check alerts in the INI?

I wasn't checking for that so I wouldn't have noticed and from the lines I went through a lot of them didn't sound like it to me.
It doesn't really sound like something you can just enable and disable... My guess is that it was just removed from the geck... The filesize is smaller afterall =/

The syntax error alerts are still there. GECK Powerup re-enables them.

Yeah true, but I'm not a world class scripter so I don't use it too often.
However if there is a way to turn it back on in the ini... I'll find it eventually unless someone beats me :)

And how about something for lighting? having to refresh the world just to get the lighting to apply to objects is annoying as hell. That alone makes me miss Fallout 3's GECK

Was this the issue with the room markers turning nearly everything invisible?

A fix that works for me every time is to insert a room bound into the cell. Just draw one and then delete it when you're done. For some reason when there's a room bound in the cell, lighting updates correctly :)
