For The Republic Part 2 (Possible Glitch, help appreciated)

Post » Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:20 am

Hello All!

I am doing the NCR's For The Republic Part 2 and I have run into a wall, literally.

I have been told by the NCR that I need to eliminate the BoS, oh noes! The problem is I allied with them, replaced the previous Elder, and am happy go lucky with them. The NCR wants me to blow them to kingdom come and I am not exactly comfortable about that. When I try talking to the elder if he might want to be old friends with the bear, he just stares at me. Anyone got some tips? I really don't want to lose a [censored]load of karma by blowing the BoS up...

Your problem is that you got rid of MacNamarra. The old elder was liberal enough that he would negotiate with the NCR. The new one is too much of a jerk.

As far as I'm aware, this is completely intentional.

So I now have to blow up the allies I wanted? Here I was thinking this was a good thing and that MacNamarra would not budge.... Fawk I wanted a good ending but now I know I will lose karma for this Any way out? Damn I hate these kind of morale traps...

I hope this is a glitch, because, I don't want to go back 20+ hours of game play and redo countless quests to not help the new overseer

Is there anything that can be done? I have +40 hours in this game and am all set to finish the game. I really don't want to blow up the BoS and I really don't like the idea of restarting. I am at a loss here.

I really hope this is a glitch. I like the BoS, they are kinda like hoarders and are not the most eager to help outsiders, but you can pulll em to their senses and remind em that we are all human. I don't see why I should just blow em all up now...

Well wait one minute. Remember when you ask Hardin "What Do I get out of this?" and he says it would be good to have powerful allies? If thats the case there should be a damn option to recruit them into your cause for the NCR cause Macnamera did not exactly have the balls to do it (In the early view) Plus I am hearing from other friends that they KEPT Mac as Elder, did all his quests, and they can't get him to side either. I don't like pointing fingers but I think this quest was really screwed up by Bethesda/Obsidian.....

Ya, sending a hate mail will REALLY solve the problem. Plus even if I did I have no idea how to contact them. Plus even then those who do know how to contact them have already swarmed Obsidians mailbox with glitch complaints etc...

It's made pretty clear that the new Elder is a hardliner Brotherhood Paladin who doesn't believe that non-Brotherhood folks should have technology, what with the first mission he gives you after being made Elder being "Hey, you know those guys who sell energy weapons? Go kill them all, because they don't deserve to have plasma guns."

I'm pretty sure you could get him to support Caesar though.

I kept the original elder and when I went down, I was allowed to say "The NCR wants me to blow up this bunker."

Then he said "Oh, that's too bad. Hey, go back and tell the NCR that we'll agree to a truce and send Paladins to help kick Caesar's skirt-wearing butt. They're in such a bad position now that they can't refuse."

Such a dike move for those who wanted to do everything just to get kicked in the balls 8+ hours later.

Anyway to force reset it with console on pc?
