Fallout new vegas multilanguage?

Post » Sat Jan 22, 2011 1:57 pm

Hey everyone, i dont know what i have to pre- order.

im living in germany and i definitly want to play the new fallout in its original language.
im used that every game i bought before is multilanguage, but last week i ordered the fallout 3 game of the year edition (at, austria- version)
well, its almost completely synchronized in german without the choice to put it on english, "god no..." and i was wondering, when fallout 3 was released i can remember, there wasnt even the option to switch it to german...

So my point is.

DO i have to buy an uk version?
OR am i ok with the at version?
because i have a suspicion that this time the synchronisized it directly. it seems to be german only....
and this will take influence where i will pre order the game.

help me please.

three dog sounds like a jerk...in german :P
there a things you cant immitate as they were actually meant, and it sounds like it just doesnt fitt...
especially if you know the original voices......many enemy charges sound like... -_-

Never understood why companies have to dub media.
Always turn out to sound like complete [censored].
Only reason for dubbing stuff is for kids cartoon shows and films because they don't care about the dubbing.

If I bought NV and it was in swedish dub I'd burn the disc. ;)
Anyway, doesn't it say under "info", on whatever site you're ordering from, whether or not the thing is dubbed?

sure it says, but i just dont understand, where are the multis?

gameware.at offers also the uk version, well the caravan pack is just included to at versions...
gamesonly.at offers the at version only, and yes it seems to be german at all this time...handbook german, language german...

this problem seems to be on every austria mail order.

this means, maybe i will have to order it on a site like play.com (uk), but this will probably take a week longer to wait. and you know, if there are a few days before
a game releases, one week more is pretty hard.
im not a nerd, i just love fallout ><

i just wish i could get a bit clarity about this, i never had trouble on this before and never really looked if a game is multi or not, because it was normal, even if bought a german version.

what i think is, that on fallout you have a large amount of audio tracks and maybe they dont fitt on the disc?!?! but its blue ray.....i dont know.. -_-

Well, sometimes you have to wait for the good to come.
I'll have to wait a week or so for it to arrive here as well.
But it's ok, I'll just play Fallout Tactics, work and hang out with friends to pass the time. :)

Now I am very disappointed.
Gstaff answered me a while ago that I don't have to fear Steam because it won't make any troubles activating a English version here in Austria but if I can't buy it this is worthless. So no New Vegas for me it seems. I don't play this game dubbed.

[Edit] Just saw the possibility to buy per gameware.at. Let's hope they accept my preorder. Gamesonly.at (where I bought FO3 in english) doesn't work this time obviously.

yea, it was really shocking....but i dont want to buy it again....so now i started to play the goty edition dubbed.
as long as i can have a untouched new vegas soon...
it isnt bad at all but im very straight at this...
because its not what bethesda or obsidian made.

@sesom
no this time no gamesonly, just like i wrote, there i've also got my fallout3 standard edition at that time...
yes gameware.at and they accept pay pal., but classic pack...well it doenst matter that much as long as they really get it on stock on release date...

@Sickhead
I have no need for preorder bonuses as modder ;) and I can't afford the collectors edition in the moment. So I am ok with the classic pack. I make my preorder today let's hope the best.

What about ordering it from Steam? It should download the version that corresponds to the language you have Steam set to. If you still buy the disk in a dubbed language and you activate it in Steam and download it instead of installing from the disk, it should still download the version for language you have Steam set to.

Fallout 3, like New Vegas is sold in single langauges for each locality. There is no multi language installs or the ability to switch the install.

So, if you want an English Language game, you have to order either the UK or US version of the Retail CD. Then, once you activate it with Steam, you can play the game in the English Langauge. However if you download from Steam, the language of the game will be tied to the langauge of the country the credit card is from. Us an American Credit Card for your Steam Account, then it will be American langauge game. Use a credit card from a Spanish bank in Germany, you get a Spanish language game.

Now I am very disappointed.

If you buy the Retail CD, it will activate in the language of the game you bought. Since there is only one language on the disk, that is all you get when you install the game. Steam can not change that.

@CCNA
I understood that the last time I asked. The original question was the ability to buy it here in Austria in English without importing.

Btw. another interesting question are updates and DLCs via steam.

Update should be no problem if steam recognizes hopefully my english version. If not I am happy to download the patch as usual from the gamesas homepage. But lets think about the Austrian uncensored version (german language) which is updated in Germany or vice versa? Does suddenly a uncensored game convert in a censored one? I hope not regardles it's no problem for me!

DLC? Do I have to get a english credit card to get the english DLC for my game (here in Austria), because it is steam exclusive?

I hope there are a no steam related localization downsides for people who want to play this game in the original language but are in a country with a different language.

You would have to either import the game as a Retail Disk in the American or UK versions to get an English Language game. Or, you have a Credit Card from an American or British bank and then you can download from Steam the english version.

As far as patches, I would imagine it would be tied to your localization since this is not a purchase. DLCs have not been announced, but to guess, I would imagine the same CC issue applies. However until those are announced, that issue may not be determined at this time.
