Goto CCC, goto 3d app settings, uncheck 'let applications control AA' set it to 2xAA, do the same for AF set it to 2X. Make sure that AAA is disabled.

1. AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.93Ghz
2. 8 Gigs Patriot Ram
3. HD 4870X2 2Gb
4. Win 7 64bit
5.Asus Crosshair IV

Soooooooooooooo.... recommended settings is Ultra High...hooray!...however I cant even play this game on high....medium...barely low...the FPS are so amazingly low its like someone is drawing each frame poorly and gluing it to my screen. Ive tried all sorts of configurations and even though shadows are off no AA or AF and textures are low the second anything happens it just takes a huge dump (by anything happens I mean like if I don't have my camera positioned to the ground). It is not a heating issue in the slightest and I have the CCC open and the card only hits about 70% usage max usually its very low and jumps to about 50% and then drops down. I have all drivers updated and all that good stuff. I have never ever ever had an issue with a game especially this bad...am I doing something wrong or is there anyone that has some good advice? Thank you in advance :)

My current settings are this and it still is amazingly awful.
16:10 Wide Screen
1280x800
AA Off
AF off
Screen Effects: None
Windowed
Vert Sync
Detail Medium
Water Medium
Shadows Off
View Distance Max
Distant LOD Max

I DID FEW Fix for my game , try these:

1. Download and Copy to your fallout new vegas , Place file in ../steamapps/common/fallout new vegas (or wherever your falloutNV.exe is located)

FOR ATI : http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970

FOR NVIDIA : http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778

2. Download and install Catalyst 10.10 and hotfix 10.10c for FO:New Vegas

Cat 10.10 : http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx

Cat 10.10c HOTFIX : http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU86AMDCat1010cHotfix.aspx

3. For Fix Stuttering / microstuttering write to your Fallout.iny ( in your documents) Ifpsclamp=0 to ifpsclamp=60 ,, If you encounter this issue, try setting the water multisampling setting to low. // Didnt work for me :(

I currently know of three fixes:

1. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262 - It may be detected as malware, but it's due to the way it works. It isn't (read the author's notes).
2. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34832 - Requires a decrypted (ie. cracked) .exe to run.
3. iFPSclamp .ini fix - not recommended.

4. Update your graphics drivers and DirectX

* ATI Drivers: Download the latest ATI Catalyst drivers from this link: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx
* NVIDIA Drivers: Download latest official NVIDIA drivers from this link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
* Beta Drivers: Check here http://downloads.guru3d.com/

As for DirectX, you schould download the latest monthly runtime .

5. New Vegas audio issues, lagging, stuttering or noisy audio

* Disable surround sound output in your computers sound properties. Try to use Sterero speaker setup.
* Lower your sound card’s audio sampling rate to at least 48000hz (a screenshot and detailed steps on how to do this may be found in this article)
* Try running the game in Windowed Mode. Strange as it may sound, this seems to fix lagging audio for some.
* Update your sound card’s drivers.

Your my hero!!! The first fix you posted was the problem. I read up on it because I don't like to download 3rd party stuff, but it was well worth it. The only weird thing is, is the game now picks up my video card as a 8800 Nvida card lol. It will set it at like high but I cranked the settings up to max and it runs perfectly. Thank you so much for you post!
