No, really.

I used a Gauss rifle and a stealth boy from a rock across the path.

I shot him in the face with a Anti-Material Rifle. From melee.

Put on legion armor.. so most of them didn't attack me. Then anti-material rifled his face off.

I used the Ballistic Fist, V.A.T.S, and Paralyzing Palm. Call it cheap; I say, it may my life less troublesome after the NPC framelag issues I had to deal with for the majority of the mission. Probably should of attempted to deal with it beforehand.

Anti Material Rifle to the face then he started throwing grenades at me so I shot them in VATS while they were in his hands, it helped deal with Praetorians as well

Assault Carbine + AP ammo by the truckload + W + M1 = Legate dead.

I mean that literally, by the way, when I say AP ammo by the truckload. I had been stocking up on every AP round for that thing from the Gun Runners for the past 10 levels or so, and I visited them a lot. I went in with over 2,000 rounds.

Had enough ammo to take out him, then mow down both his bodyguards, without taking my finger off the trigger.

Although I did try to shoot him with my ranger sequoia once, which didn't go so well. And he hit me with his sword, taking me down to single digit HP and sending me flying 15 feet back. I had to open up the pipboy, heal up, and change my tactics.

does he just.. get away sometimes?

I mean I finished the game.. but I couldnt find his corpse anywhere.. so Ive reloaded a few times and tried to take him out.. but it seems after I do bad things to him he runs down the path and comes back with a crapload of backup..

i get so.. so very close to gettin him dead.. and then end up toast myself..

course it doesnt help that most of MY backup runs into my stack of 10 C4 that Ive laid out for the legate..
