A question on Gates to Astigard(sp?) and LO

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:51 pm

so I decided I want to install Gates To Astigard(sp?) anyway, i tried to create the OMOD, but the BSA does not appear when you click "Add File" as you instruct. only the esp. shows up, and there is no option in my dropdown menu to see all files. I can't figure out why this is.

also, i am wanting to check on if my LO is good or if i should change it around any? this is what i have been using as my LO for a couple of days and it is running smoother than ever, but i did hear one person say i needed to change it. For those wondering where the Bashed patch is, I have NEVER had it active, as it always crashes my game on startup (if you want to help me build it, i won't turn you down.)

Anything else constructive to tell a newbie would also be helpful. I also plan on adding the Amusemant park mod soon as well, but i REALLY want to see GtA first, then add that one.

Do you really need and OMOD? GtA consists only of two files, an esp and a BSA, quite easy to install and remove. There is no need of an OMOD, IMHO.

For your load order you can use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516, copy the files into your Data directory and run BOSS.bat (not BOSS.exe).

Well, Tomlong recomemends new mod users have OMODs. i did run one of my other mods without an OMOD, but it sounds to me like it might make it run smoother maybe or something?

EDIT: Wyre bash has BOSS in it, is that what i want to use? or a different program?

The only thing the OMOD will do is make it easier to uninstall.

Tomlong is right, but OMOD is really useful only for mods that install a large amount of files, so it will be easy to delete all those files scattered around your Data folder. Trust me, you don't need an OMOD for a mod which has only two files. You put them in Data folder, activate the esp, and play. When you want to uninstall it, delete those two files and you've done.

For what concerns the BOSS question: no, Wry Bash doesn't have BOSS included. It only includes a button to easy launch BOSS - provided that you have it already installed into your Data folder.

I hope I helped.

Wyre Bash launches BOSSlogs, which i don't think changes anything.

Ah, indeed I've never used that button... :whistling: Nevermind. Forget that button.
But the matter is always the same: if you put the BOSS files in your Data folder and run BOSS.bat, your LO will be tuned up automatically.

EDIT: the BSA needs to be placed into Data Folder, together with the esp. Don't rename the files in this folder. Then, you need to activate the esp. You know how, right?

Yes, so it is. Alternatively, you can open the Oblivion Launcher and click on "Data Files", then select the esp from there.
This way the mod will be loaded into the game... otherwise it will remain inactive.

It is also to try to stick to one installer for installation in OBMM's case because it is finicky about changes made outside of itself. For example, deleting plugins outside of OBMM will cause it to give various error messages, possibly hindering installation of OMODs during a given session. Not to mention, once GTA is packed in an OMOD, activating it is easier than installing through the executable...counting clicks and windows, anyway...

hi tomlong. Now, if you see the question, the problem is that I can't find the BSA to create the OMOD, even though I know exactly where it is. i just can't see it under the Add file section.

That is because you are not in the Data files view. Click the 'Data files' radio button at the bottom of the OMOD creation window to change to that view, and then the Add files button will have that default.

Edit: Never mind, just checked...

Click on the 'Data files' radio button to change to that view, and use the 'Add files' button to add the BSA...
